ECU's Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium will be getting a completely new look during the current renovation. The old natural grass surface will be replaced with a new purple artificial playing surface, Pirate Turf, similar to the Smurf Turf at Boise.

This will really be the pride of the conference.

you would have LOVED to see UCLA @ Memphis then :-)

you have UCLA visiting Memphis at 11am on ABC and it just happened to fall on Cooper-Young Fest.

we had like 48k at the game (Memphis wins) and 50k+ at CY Fest right outside the stadium.

It was a total blast.

Absolutely. CY Fest was always so much fun. Can't imagine the scene that day. 01-lauramac2

Luckily it was an 11am game so if you got their early to tailgate you could still find parking. If you got there after 9am though.....you were screwed.

Not a recycled April Fool's joke:
DFS construction is on schedule for completion before next year's football season. A temporary pressbox will be built for this season.

I realize our stadium is very functional and not too pleasing but:
A) It's on campus
B) It's ours
C) We win in it

Gotta start somewhere I guess.

I've only been the Liberty Bowl and Raymond James (and Obviously Nippert). While UC was in the Big East the only stadium I didn't get to was Uconn. I liked Raymond James slightly more than the Liberty Bowl. I think I've been to 32 stadiums across the country (NFL/College)... I had both of those in the middle of the pack. (Of course Nippert is my all time favorite)

That picture is actually a few weeks old. They've come quite a way since then.

She's already purty, but when this is finished, she'll easily be the jewel of the American.

I like Temple at the LINC and Navy's stadium just because they are the only two I have been too. Game day at Navy is outstanding loved it. Temple and the LINC are within 2 hours and the South Philly Complex provides a great game day tailgating experience for Temple, the Eagles, and the Phillies. 02-13-banana 02-13-banana 02-13-banana

Next up the Rent - hopefully this year. Have relatives in Connecticut at this time and will travel from there while visiting in the area. 04-cheers

Really enjoyed my experience at Yulman Stadium in 2015. The stadium was really beautiful and just the right size for Tulane I think. I felt closer to the action than any other stadium I've been to and you could purchase GOOD beer which was 100% appreciated given the team I was forced to watch week after week. I seem to remember they had a craft beer on tap which was awesome.

Also I loved all of Tulane's quirky cheers and chants. Great experience all around.

Dowdy Ficklen is #1 in terms of the stadium I'd most like to visit that I haven't already.

One thing I really am proud of about DF is the history of it. Every brick, every beam was earned and fought for, nothing given. Grew from humble beginnings.

Good to hear! No one has given the Rent any love lol. It has more energy and passion than you think. RG3 said it was one of the toughest places that he has played at during his time a Baylor. My fav is the new uh stadium. But i also want to visit yalls as well.

Here is the link to what RG3 said.
link

"Jon Robinson: Another cool thing they have in the game is the atmosphere from the crowd, where they're cheering wildly for the home team, while making it tough on the road teams to call audibles with all the crowd noise. When you were at Baylor, what was the toughest place for you to play in terms of crowd noise?"

"The thing that people think is when you go to these big stadiums and they have 80,000 people or 100,000 people, that these are the toughest stadiums to play at, but really, those aren't. When you have that many people, most of the time, the fans are pretty far away from the field. The toughest places to play are the ones that are jam-packed, are really tight to the field, and sit about 45,000 people. When we played at UConn my freshman year, that was the loudest place I've ever been as a football player. The stands are right next to the field, it was packed, and everyone was yelling. That was probably the coolest place for me to play at aside from Texas, Texas A&M, and Nebraska."
