Meanwhile, the GOP is moving further to the right, which will make it increasingly more difficult as the electorate changes.

How are you going to 'charge' Mexico?

Our foreign aid isn't enough to pay for all the damage the US does to those countries by OUR aiding of gangs in those countries as a result of US drug, repatriation, and gun policies.

If that's the case, Trump is really helping bring this about. He's not popular, he was never popular, and he's infuriating the majority that didn't vote for him (or didn't vote at all). He doesn't have teflon, but rather teflon with 45% of the people who voted for him in the LAST election, and a large majority of Republican primary voters. Consistent majorities across all transparent polls consistently show a hard core majority of likely and registered voters implacably opposed to him.

Of course Democrats want a majority, just like Republicans do.

Basically, the ex-Bannon advisers of the President feel that that they can go full on racist against Latinos and pull in a few more poor uneducated anglo voters in the midwest while not losing anything that he already has. I think this isn't going to end well for them

And what have you gotten in return, a budget busting tax cut that isn't resulting in rising wages, self dealing on an epic and historic scale, the complete removal of evangelical Christianity as a credible source of morality, and the collapse of our health care system (watch for that - and people aren't blaming Obama).

Meanwhile, the GOP is moving further to the right, which will make it increasingly more difficult as the electorate changes.

So if you wake up in January 2021 facing President Gillibrand, A 45-50 Seat Dem Majority in the House, 55 Dem US Senators, 34 Dem or (very liberal GOP) Governors, and over half the country that won't listen to you guys....understand that...congrats on your 1 in 75 shot gerrymandered win in 2016.

If that's the case, Trump is really helping bring this about. He's not popular, he was never popular, and he's infuriating the majority that didn't vote for him (or didn't vote at all). He doesn't have teflon, but rather teflon with 38% of the people who voted in the LAST election, and a large majority of Republican primary voters. Consistent majorities across all transparent polls consistently show a hard core majority of likely and registered voters implacably opposed to him.

Of course Democrats want a majority, just like Republicans do.

Basically, the ex-Bannon advisers of the President feel that that they can go full on racist against Latinos and pull in a few more poor uneducated anglo voters in the midwest while not losing anything that he already has. I think this isn't going to end well for them.

If that's all the D's have going into 2020 they will lose again. Did the D's learn nothing from 2016? We shall see. I've seen no evidence that Trump has gained any significant voters from 2016.

From general statewide elections in New Jersey and Virginia, it appears that while Trump has retained his support, that the Dems are able to motivate a lot more voters into coming out.

And in well voted special elections in Arizona, Florida and Pennsylvania, we've seen the same dynamic.
