TOP/BEST players in CUSA; Football, Basketball, Baseball (upcoming seasons)?
If you know enough about other teams and follow baseball at all, who would you say are our best players in our conference in Football, Men's Basketball, and Baseball?
I'm going to admit, I don't know a lot about other teams talent...I know the running back from FAU was a beast but did he graduate? And though I love the sport, I do not follow CUSA baseball.
Choosing the top guy based on a mix of who will have the best season in conference and who has the most pro potential.
My Homer Picks are:
Football: Devin Singletary (FAU), if he is not back then: Tyre Brady (Marshall)
Basketball: John Elmore (Marshall)
Baseball: Have no idea.

Baseball:
USM's Matt Wallner - unless something freak happens he should be a 1st round pick. Here's his numbers from his freshman and sophomore seasons:
Freshman: .336, 19 HR, 62 RBI - National Freshman of the Year
Sophomore: .351, 16 HR, 67 RBI
Unless he picks it up pitching wise this upcoming season I don't see his pitching as strength. Should he develop that more I feel he'll easily be a top 10 pick
MLB.com:
9. Mets (27-32, .458): Matt Wallner, OF, Southern Miss
A product of the Minnesota high school ranks, Wallner has been a run producer and closer at Southen Miss. While he's mid-to-upper 90s off the mound, his power potential as an outfielder is what should drive his Draft stock. The 6-foot-5 outfielder has plus pop from the left side and is quite athletic for his size.
Bleacher Report:
15. Pittsburgh Pirates: Matt Wallner, RF, Southern Mississippi

Singletary is coming back for his junior season.

1. Football - Tyre Brady
2. Basketball - Elmore
Throw a dart at the board for baseball, I can't name a single player on any team, including Marshall's

Dark horse candidate: Cade Edwards (Rice). Transferred from TCU before the season started (having never played for them) but they wouldn’t let him play. Supposedly would’ve been the best hitter on the team this year and Proctor was a 3rd round pick.
I don’t see him on the roster though so I’m not sure what his status is...

I know this is what Wayne said, but he's basing on simply Fall Ball. Let's not forget that DiCaprio, Dunlap, Comeaux and Trei Cruz are all returning next year (along with Collins and Gneiting). Our offense should be in pretty good shape in 2019. Having said that, the Rice guy most likely to compete for POY honors is Matt Canterino, who was lights out in his first start in the Cape, and who has been invited to play for TeamUSA this Summer. If Canterino can elevate his game even slightly he could be a Top 3 round pick in next year's draft. He certainly has the body and the easily repeatable mechanics the scouts love, and his stats his first two years (especially Ks and BAA) have been outstanding. Just needs to demonstrate a bit more consistency in locating his pitches.

We didn't play FAU or Marshall last year and we don't play them this year. Honestly I don't even know who Singleton and Brady are, but then again I'm not even sure if I can name a football player from the conference on any other team and that's a problem.
Elmore and Wallner are great - can't argue with those two picks. Is Wallner going to play for Team USA?
