I don't get the thinking here. No one is saying don't recruit good freshman, but if you are writing off transfers in 2018 you are severely handicapping yourself big time, especially at ECU where we did very well until recently with transfers, and especially with all the grad transfers available in 2018.
Dooley got 6 freshman and one open scholarship. Did we really need more than 5 freshman including one that didn't even get in and looks useless to begin with. You could take your 5 freshman and get us some immediate hep next year with 2 grad transfers that immediately open back up. We got 2 open scholarships wasting away next year instead.
That is a proven way for us to get talent, and attrition over the last 15 years before the last couple had been our main problem IMO not that we couldn't necessarily get talent, we got freshman and couldn't keep them here. We've had players start here and move on to Pitt, Tennessee, Syracuse, Xavier, Georgia Tech, Wichita State etc etc. That's probably only going to get harder with the transfer culture of today and as much as these guys move. You sign 6 freshman and you are assured someone will dislike their playing time and is going to transfer so it's pointless.
If you're talking about the 7-2 kid from Bosnia he probably will not start until the fall. I don't think he's officially been ruled out.

Most of these international guys prep in the US now, like this guy. We aren't finding anymore hidden gems like you could probably 15-25 years ago. Even of the ones that don't come over they are tracked from the time they are young now as well or play international ball. I don't think it's a viable option anymore.

I don't have much faith in him ever playing a meaningful minute here even if he does get in I doubt he's here very long.
