RE: Pebble the foul mouthed cockatoo tears Justin Trudeau a new one!
Mike Pearson was the last Canadian PM who was really worth a damn. He held the office from ’63 to ’68 and then the decline started with Trudeau’s father, who dominated for a long time.
From roughly 1965-’75, a lot (tens of thousands by any reckoning, probably more than 100k) of our most worthless/disloyal/unreliable men moved to Canada to avoid US military service. Most of them appear to have stayed there. Good for America; bad for Canada.
Plus, at least 30,000 young Canadian men volunteered for various branches of our Armed Forces during the same time span. Again: good for us, bad for Canada. I don’t know how many made their way back home afterwards, but I can’t believe all of them did.
Because America was (even then) a nation of ~200m people, the demographic impact of this “trade” was very slight on us. But Canada was a nation of ~20m people and it hit them hard. Plus, factor in the overall softening/weakening influences of media, welfare, and the education system, let it simmer for 50 years, and suddenly politics starts coughing up “leaders” like Justin Trudeau.
