Florida Atlantic's OL gets some more help; new QB transfer
Florida guard Antonio Riles joins the Owls as a graduate transfer. Earlier additions were Tulane center Junior Diaz (graduate transfer) and JuCo linemen Zack Bennett and Marcel Southall (switching to offense). Will Tuihalamaka, BJ Etienne, and Tarrick Thomas also showed promise during spring practice. The only two returning starters are Reggie Bain (1st Team C-USA) and Brandon Walton.

I'm definitely more optimistic about the depth we'll have on the OL this season. Losing 3 starters is never good, but hopefully this incoming experience will make an immediate impact during fall camp. We're in a better spot than we were in January.

Indiana QB (Mr. Florida 2016) Nick Tronti is also transferring to Florida Atlantic. He'll have to sit out this season, but has 4 years of eligibility remaining since he redshirted. (Fun fact: De'Andre Johnson was Mr. Florida 2014).

Congratulations. Wish we could land a few Graduate transfer linemen.

I am intrigued. OL is the only place where we lost a lot of starters. We also lost 2 WRs, but, there, we have enough strong returning talent.

Sounds like OL leaves us a reason to be optimistic.

Does Tronti lose a year of eligibility when he sits this year?

Nope, he will still have his 4 years of eligibility.

For example: Jovon Durante, who played at West Virginia for 2 years, had to sit out last year due to NCAA transfer rules, but has 2 years of eligibility remaining. You can see he's designated as a true JR on our roster, as well.

Did Durante redshirt at West Virginia or did he play as a true freshman, thus his transfer year was his redshirt. You already said Tronti redshirted and is now transferring so when he sits out this year he will only have 3 years eligibility remaining.

I was going by what was reported by the Post, Sentinel. "Tronti will need to sit the 2018 season in compliance with the NCAA transfer rules, though he would have 4 seasons of eligibility remaining." You're right - it should only be 3 years after he sits out this year since his 5-year clock started last year.
