You'd better be using a sun dial with decade markers.

Who knows, maybe when BYU or Gonzaga or both leave (if they ever do) say 6 or 7 years from now on the next media deal period for the MWC (and after BYU is rejected again by the B12) this might matter.

But in the meantime ... 07-coffee3 ... 03-zzz ... 07-coffee3 06-basketball ... 03-zzz ... 07-coffee3 06-basketball ... 03-zzz ... 07-coffee3 ... 03-zzz

I agree this doesn't open any short-term doors for GCU but in the long run it positions the university to at least be considered if a spot opens in the WCC.

In the meantime this benefits the WAC by removing one objection that potential new members might have to joining the conference.

Good for GCU. The could help the WAC a lot.

If not the WCC, the MW may take a look at them not to far down the road.

Allegedly, they pay a good chunk of their students to create the environment. It's kind of given them a bad wrap, but really isn't much different to me than the schools (like Auburn) that pay the pep band.

WCC makes a lot of sense, especially if the Zags jump. I just hope GCU takes NMSU with them.

I don't think the Zags are going to jump now. They had their chance and after the WCC gave to their demands, there is no need for them to go to a football conference.

RE: GCU
This is just corporate hocus-pocus. The new non-profit corporation is a subsidiary of Grand Canyon Education, Inc.

Quote:Here's how it happened: A newly formed non-profit corporation purchased academic operations and related assets from the public parent company, Grand Canyon Education Inc.

The parent company transferred property and improvements on the west Phoenix campus to GCU, along with other academic assets. The purchase price was about $875 million. GCU will pay using a seven-year loan.

The parent company will still provide services like marketing, accounting and human resources to GCU.

About 35 percent of the for-profit company's full-time employees, or 1,400 people, transferred their employment to GCU, as did most of the company's part-time employees, adjuncts and student workers.

They handout scholarships to the Havoc leaders which leads to about 1200-1500 a semester from what I have heard.

Yeah, never believed this would go legit. It would have to go somewhere to do this...feels like a step into the pool and not the full plunge. This could go back and forth for ages.

WCC won’t touch this...who cares about the facilities and location? The school leaders won’t look past it. Now, down the line, would Southland or a drained Summit?

GCE will take over educational services for ArizonaST Law in the next 5 years I think, the two have been talking for a few months about how GCE could work at ASU. So if its ok for a Pac12 school is should be good for a WCC Summit Southland Big West MWC Big Sky or whoever else that would be thinking about GCU the Non Profit side to join their league.

I guess it cleared the AZ board, but the way they did it feels less than genuine.

I don’t even think Baylor or Wake Forest could join the WCC. It’s a wonder that BYU got to join!!!

GCU is adding 100 acres and will grown from 19,000 students to 30,000 students within 5 years.

More construction going on.
