So we are starting to sweet spot now of teams that actually have a chance to make the Big Dance

I'd say probably 1 more week until that's the case. Always say the difference between last 16 teams in and 1st 16 teams out is 1-3 games.

I read a few previews and looked at their rankings once, and it was clear these guys have no idea what they're talking about.

There’s no one who watched 144 or 351 teams enough times to truly know what they’re talking about. I’d rather read each team’s preview by someone who watches that team’s every game - not some pseudo know-it-all who just looked at stat sheets. It’s hot air.

Penn St shows up at #72. The 12th NIT team- which in reality would be one of the 1st actual NIT teams as generally there's about 9-11 NIT bid thieves always from smaller conferences).

Got 51 NCAA tourney and 20 NIT teams left.

RE: College Basketball top 144 preview
Georgetown shows up at #70. This would be a major upgrade for the Hoya's off last few years- where they were rotting under the carcas of JT3- the Hoyas let him stick around about 3-4 years too long. The OOC schedule is better for the Hoyas this year(it couldn't have been worse). The BE looks to be a bit down this season from the last 3-4 years- a lot of teams lost a lot of really good players. Nova 4 guys to the NBA, Xavier lost 5 guys(plus coach), Creighton lost top 2 players, Butler lost 2 guys(including best player), Providence lost a lot, etc. So Georgetown may benefit from that.

I'm curious. If they only list the top 144 (out of 250+) schools, how can you be sure there isn't another Summit team ranked ahead of South Dakota State?

because they put on the write up what place they have team projected.

Murray St shows up today as the OVC champion....

Just shows how much things have changed now. Got 12 conferences left with 3 conferences only having 1 team left. So really now only 9 conferences with a realistic shot at multiple bids.

LOL at these guys being evidence of anything. Anyone could look up stats and recruiting profiles and put together BS rankings without watching most teams more than 3 times.

The only evidence is what plays out on the court. Not some silly mythical preseason ranking.

well last year these same 9 conferences- P5, Big East, AAC, A10, and MWC had every single at large NCAA tourney bid, and had all but 3 of the top 16 spots in the NIT(only St Mary's, Mid Tennessee, and Western Kentucky spoiled that). So it's pretty much exactly like what this is projecting. There has been a seperation..... Whether you like it or not.

And that’s fine and all because those things are actually a result from on the court.

But a stupid preseason top 144 by the pen equivalent of talking heads is meaningless. No conclusions should be drawn from them. A Final Four team wasn’t even in their top 100 last year.

Alabama shows up at #56. 9th team in the NIT.

So tomorrow starts to reveal their last 8 teams out of the NCAA(first 8 NIT). Like I always say- there's not much of a difference between last 8 NCAA teams/1st 8 NIT teams. Just 1-2 bounces in the season.

So true and why early March is so much fun. It is the time of the year when the Toupee from Philly gets his 15 secs.

Yep. Going to be really interesting this year.

I think the one thing that will be more important for him(and other bracketologists) this year compared to years past is the sweet 16 reveal that they do in early Feb. Seeing how the new metrics are impacting things.

Seton Hall shows up as the 8th team out. They lose a lot from last year I know.
