Newly Elected San Francisco Mayor: ‘There’s More Feces … Than I’ve Ever Seen’
[Image: 72pqxi.jpg]

Where has she been living? This has been well publicized. San Fran is REAL sh#thole. Literally. The left has some really brilliant politicians.

Quote:San Francisco Mayor London Breed, in her first one-on-one interview since taking office, said homeless advocacy groups that receive funding from the city need to better educate the homeless to “clean up after themselves.”

“I work hard to make sure your programs are funded for the purposes of trying to get these individuals help, and what I am asking you to do is work with your clients and ask them to at least have respect for the community — at least, clean up after themselves and show respect to one another and people in the neighborhood,” Breed told the Investigative Unit, referencing her conversations with nonprofit groups aimed at serving the homeless.

When pressed about whether her plan calls for harsher penalties against those who litter or defecate on city streets, Breed said “I didn’t express anything about a penalty.” Instead, the mayor said she has encouraged nonprofits “to talk to their clients, who, unfortunately, were mostly responsible for the conditions of our streets.”[…]

“I will say there is more feces on the sidewalks than I’ve ever seen growing up here,” Breed said. “That is a huge problem and we are not just talking about from dogs — we’re talking about from humans.”

San Francisco is slated to spend nearly $280 million this year on housing and services for the homeless — a roughly 40 percent increase compared to just five years ago. Over that same span, however, the number of homeless in the city has largely remained the same at about 7,500 people, according to city counts.

“About 70 percent of the people estimated to be homeless in San Francisco were actually housed in San Francisco before they became homeless,” Breed said. “We have to make sure people who live here, [and] sadly, people who are homeless here, that they are also held accountable for taking care of our streets. This is our home.”

280M for the 7500 homeless is over 37k per person. By comparison, the SF sanitation worker makes 39k per year.

Oh, that's rich, the party of "who are you to judge" and "it's never your fault" is suddenly preaching accountability?

I thought that was the whole platform of the left.... government is mother, father, and provider, let US take care of you.

Public housing, or else they don’t live in the City

RE: Newly Elected San Francisco Mayor: ‘There’s More Feces … Than I’ve Ever Seen’
I read an article a few years ago about housing for homeless in the Bay area.

A large building which was once a GE office had been turned in to public housing for the employed homeless.

The article spoke to a few people, but I remember one family specifically. The husband was an IT worker and the wife was a nurse. On their combined income they could not afford housing and had to live in a public housing facility.

Now, as far as the newly elected mayor asking the mentally ill and drug addicted homeless people to be responsible where they -- uh -- relieve themselves...

03-rotfl

That will fix it.

I'm just waiting for diseases such as cholera and whatever other diseases will pop up because of this unsanitary condition. San Fran has become a middle ages look a like where feces and disease were very common.

'We Still Need to Eat': Tech Boom Creates Working Homeless
San Francisco is well-known for its homeless population, but the homeless crisis has been spreading rapidly into Silicon Valley as the tech boom has led to skyrocketing rents.
Nov. 7, 2017, at 11:12 p.m.

Quote:The median rent in the San Jose metro area is $3,500 a month, yet the median wage is $12 an hour in food service and $19 an hour in health care support, an amount that won't even cover housing costs. The minimum annual salary needed to live comfortably in San Jose is $87,000, according to a study by personal finance website GoBankingRates.

Quote:Ellen Tara James-Penney, a 54-year-old lecturer at San Jose State University, parks her old Volvo at one of those safe haven churches, Grace Baptist Church, and eats in its dining hall. She is paid $28,000 a year to teach four English classes and is carrying $143,000 in student debt after earning two degrees.

She grades papers and prepares lessons in the Volvo. At night, she leans back the driver's seat and prepares for sleep, one of two dogs, Hank, by her side. Her husband, Jim, who is too tall for the car, sleeps outside in a tent cot with their other dog, Buddy.

It seems like James-Penney made very poor academic and career decisions.

Correct. When you get down to the $2K per month range, you are talking about a studio apartment, which typically has around 300 square feet. Thats about the size of a typical master bedroom in a typical house.

The other issue is finding an apartment close enough to work to cut down on transportation costs.

If yo uare a couple, expect to pay about $4K for an apartment in SF.

blame apartments.com for my figure. According to them I can get a studio or one bedroom for $1200/month.
