How do we know that the imaging copy that Crowdstrike provided to the FBI is in fact true and accurate and complete?

You're not understanding the question I asked. I'm not asking whether it's possible to provide a true and accurate transcript. I'm asking, "How do we know that's what Crowdstrike did?" Because to get it into evidence, you are going to have to be able to prove that. Ordinarily, that's not a problem. Either law enforcement has their own forensic unit do it themselves, or they retain some independent third party. Also have them explain how a cloud based system was able to dump the entirety of the email data into a thumb drive at the velocity of a direct PC to USB connection. Also, give us the name of the numbnut squad in charge of the "cloud of servers" so we can ask them who downloaded the entire email database, and what profile was used to do so.

Yep-, the issue is a chain of custody issue. Should be really problematic as an evidentiary issue. Big problem with 'images' captured by third parties. Even in a lowly civil case the image as evidence stands a good chance of being fked.

And Mach, whether it be cloud-based or not --- each and every stored item has a physical locale. CS should have pulled in an FBI tech team at time zero, and used that clout to isolate and preserve the physical media. Then image it out. Or, at the minimum, have the FBI tech team do the image itself. That is the problem with self-help, and the DNC should have realized the importance of the issue. Instead, they acted as though they wanted to sweep it under the rug and deal with it internally; but then acted as though it was a theft of the fing crown jewels. Their determination to do it both ways pretty much laid a turd in use of the image 'evidentiary-wise'.

However, I am sure the GRU officers who are indicted will probably not worry too much about evidentiary issues for other glaringly obvious reasons.

Wrong, DNC used a dedicated server in their office. The cloud serves as a backup, extra storage and can allow employees remote access.
