We (UConn and Rutgers) should have consistently played the last week of the season. The Big East as a conference didn't do its part to help develop rivalries.
I feel like UConn should play UMass the last week. Let's face it, they're basically on the same playing field now, and it would be cool to see that field covered in snow!
Rutgers and Temple always seemed like an appropriate match-up considering their proximity and less than desirable histories on the gridiron.
A lot of great match-ups were destroyed with NE realignment. Penn State-Pitt is the obvious one, but PSU-West Virginia isn't mentioned much. The series is lopsided, but I feel like that was before WVU actually got really good, and there could have been some excellent games between the two.

Cool thing is that we will have played all of those schools except for UT, Rice, and UNT from 2009-2021. Not sure why we haven't gotten a home and home with UNT yet though. We're both two large g5 schools in the same state. From what I've read on various forums older UNT people look down on us for some reason.
If I had to throw in some non Texas teams in there I'd say OK st, USM, WYO, Kansas, K state, and La Tech.
I don't think we look down on you, we just don't think you should have moved up. We didn't want UTSA to move up either. Texas didn't need 12 FBS programs.
Texas State's current situation reminds me too much of what North Texas went through. North Texas spent a decade struggling as the only Texas program in the Belt, so I feel your pain, but you guys are going to have to pull yourself up by your boot straps if you wan to survive at the FBS level. Every year it's getting harder for G5 programs to be relevant in the FBS. WKU has made cuts to their athletics, UAB has made cuts to their athletics, Idaho had to move down to the FCS, and now, New Mexico has had to make cuts to their athletics. If you want teams to want you on their schedule, you have to make some noise and win.

Good list.
I would add as occasional opponents: Virginia, Kentucky, Maryland, Georgia Tech, Old Dominion, UCF, USF, MTSU, WKU, and USM (no reason App can't get a H&H with any of them); Va. Tech, FSU, Georgia, Auburn, Clemson, and Florida as our paycheck games.

OBE football rivalries that were lost:
Keg of Nails (Cincinnati/Louisville)
River City Rivalry (Cincinnati/Pittsburgh)
Backyard Brawl (Pittsburgh/West Virginia)
Connecticut/Rutgers
Louisville/West Virginia
Louisville/USF
Pittsburgh/Syracuse
Syracuse/UConn
Syracuse/West Virginia
USF/West Virginia
Obviously, there were a lot more from the basketball side. It's a shame so many of these are no longer annual matchups.

We do have a 4 game set coming up with Temple, either starting next year or in 2020.

Yes, UK vs KU in basketball would be a must each year. Playing the Jayhawks in all other sports wouldn't really move the needle on either side, though. I think UK would actually love to play the midwest in basketball, namely Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Illinois.
To be honest, UK fits the Big 10 culture much more as an athletic conference than the SEC; we just have a lot of work to do on the academic end. Heck, if the Big 10 eventually takes Oklahoma, though, the academic argument would go out the window. We are basically in Oklahoma's academic tier and one notch below at worst.

I wasn't complaining about our scheduling if that's what you got out of my post. We have a great schedule set for the next 8 years or so and have had great home schedules ever since joining the FBS. We have a few P5 home games and a lot of great G5s like Ohio, SMU, Wyoming, and Tulsa lined up along with our rivalry game with UTSA over the next 8 years or so. Looks like yall have a decent lineup planned as well. Sucks that yall are playing liberty though.
