133 Democrats refuse to vote “yes” or “no” on a motion supporting ICE, for fear of alianting their base. Instead, they voted “present.” 34 progressives vote no (they want to abolish ICE) and 18 more pragmatic minded Ds voted “yes.”

IDK, I'd think voting "present" would be the same as voting "yes" for ICE considering the mentality of the left these days...

Democrats have no loyalty. No guts. They have nothing but their hatred of Trump. SAD!

This was a losing topic for them.

The best it could do it strengthen support among people already in the bag. In reality, it just alienated a lot of regular folks across the country.

For once on the immigration issue the GOP is the road runner and the donks the coyote.

Finally, the GOP did something smart. They knew with all this hubbub put on by the Demons about abolishing ICE was a lose-lose situation for the Demons. They couldn't/wouldn't win with either vote. If you vote Against Abolishing, you're a racist. If you vote For Abolishing you're a Socialist and won't be able to get any on the fence votes.

In other words they were forced to put their money where their mouths were.

I wonder how Beto O'Rourke voted.

Hopefully someone on the right is preparing campaign ads saying just that.

If I'm a Democrat, I'm supporting ICE. Even if I don't like how they operate, what do we do without them? We'll still need to cover immigration. Another organization will have to take their place.

Every day democratic voters and moderates neither love or hate ICE. They might not like some of the stories, but at minimum they're a necessary evil. Democratic legislators should feel comfortable enough to say that the abolish ICE crowd is wrongheaded.
