Sure, why not? It happened during a war that just ended 73 years ago. You don't think the old Soviet Union were buddies with us in any REAL sense, do you. It was a partnership of convenience, they furnished most of the bodies and we furnished the equipment. Why do you think we won the Cold War. They just couldn't keep up with the Jonesys. Their other real recourse would have been to start a war with us but they knew that they could lose everything they had too which wasn't much to begin with. They've always have been at a loss for natural resources and have always needed some nation to supply what they needed.

Before this was brought up I was thinking that perhaps this was gonna happen but I didn't want to hypothesize about such a scenario.

Do you think China would like to have a sort of partner with the US so close to their borders? I think not. They've even fought a war before so they're not particular close even if they shared an ideology.

Oh wait. Trump is currently trashing all of those.

This is what happens with TDS. An otherwise potentially rational mind suddenly turns to mush and begins to talk gibberish.

Firstly, Trump has not talked of propping up Russia. He's talked of re-evaluating our cold war stance against Russia, the money we spend taking that stance, and planning for the long term.

Secondly, talking tough love to our European allies is not "trashing" them. They've allowed into their countries islamic fundamentalists whose sworn goal is to overthrow western lifestyle. Someone needs to slap some sense into them on the subject.

And as far as NATO goes, Trump has rightly told the countries that participate in that organization to increase their spending to agreed upon levels, that the US is tired of footing most of the bill for protecting them. Their response? They're quietly increasing their spending levels in support of the organization.

You lose JD. Good thing we didn't bet on that.....oh wait, nevermind.

Even propping up Russia they would be little trouble in a conventional war and as close as we came to nuclear war with Russia, even Putin would probably cool things down before we got there. An unchecked China on the other hand would be something that neither the US or Russia want to deal with on their own.

Too bad there aren't other lifelong alliances and organizations already in place that could do the same thing...

Assuming you are referring to NATO, what exactly do you think they could muster to counter China given their dismal financial contributions? Hell NATO isn't much more than an agreement allowing the US to put bases in Europe at this point.

Germany can send their armored personnel carriers armed with broomsticks, their nine operational Leopard tanks and their 29 combat ready jets.

JD talking about a super power pretending to like us. A mind is a terrible thing to waste JD. Countries don't have friends, they have interests.

This is your brain JD.

Quote:While the progressive left sees a Russian spy around every corner, there is a very real possibility that Washington and Moscow will collude for a very big reason—and soon.

Both nations have a reason to fear a coming change in the international order that will impact them both. And as history shows us time and again, a rising power that seeks to overturn the international system can make the most dedicated enemies join forces—and fast.

I can only be talking about one thing: a growing and more powerful China.

No one should be shocked by such an assertion. The simple fact is that we could very well be at the start of a colossal shift in how America and Russia view each other as they gear up to take on a much bigger foe. And we should be clear: if projections hold, the Chinese economy will someday surpass America’s and Russia’s—combined. As economic power translates into clear military strength, the writing could be on the wall for what may come.

I said that this was what's in the works the day after the MSM went ape-shyt over the Helsinki summit.

Who's likely to make a serious challenge to us first? A country with an economy the size of Texas, or one with an economy bigger than ours and Russia's combined?

Which culture more closely matches ours, Russia's or China's?

The Texas economy is actually very large. If we were a country, Texas would have something like the 9th largest economy in the world.

The US still has the largest economy but China is trying to catch up. The trade war should knock them back quite a bit. Russia is still a good distance back, so I see the logic. But, both China and Russia cover large areas on land, and both have very large amounts of natural resources, meaning they have a lot of potential for growth. The US must be very strategic in how we handle this situation.
