Yup! A rental Stadium that has hosted Super Bowls & NCAA Football National Championships. Yes, it ain't like sitting in a rusted relic.

Look at that sea of red at USF's P6 home game last year. [Image: wQWBnkp.jpg]

Haha. Wow!

Letting pride cloud logic and holding themselves back as a result. Please don’t change, usf. I support this study 100%.

USF plays in a great stadium, and so the first priority is getting the football operations center and IPF built, and then move towards a CSU stadium. Don't really see a problem with this philosophy. I personally would not have a problem with a UCF type stadium, but most USF fans and alumni want a mini-RJS. This was made abundantly clear in this study.

"USF consultant says new on-campus football stadium could be done for $120 million, but fans were very clear they didn't want a "high school stadium" like UCF's."

so spending $120m today gets you a high school stadium similar to UCF's that cost $55m in 2006. the costs aren't going down with each passing year, they're rising fast. by the time you all have everything perfect and lined up for the $240m in financing, a stadium like CSU's will cost $400m and $240m will be the going rate for a "high school stadium".

Short sighted by USF, IMO. Build your stadium and improve it over time. Just like FSU and UF.

Not sure why you chose to swipe at Houston. Stadium is a jewel. Go ahead and build Houston's stadium and be successful now, or pine for CSU, the great CSU. Wow. What a delusional bunch.

Temple’s stadium project appears to be stalled. I don’t know of any study or survey we did like this but I would endorse a UCF on campus stadium for Temple as I believe the benefits of a true home field are many. Oh well Bulls guess we’re in the same ship, er, boat.

That's the funniest part of this study. They don't say a "high school stadium like FSU". That stadium has the same bones as UCFs, it just has had more of a facade added to it.

RE: USF Football OCS Study
Code:
................Stadium cost....year........avg
School..........(w/inflation)...opened......attendance
CSU             $220m           2017        32k
UH              $132m           2014        32.5k
UCF             $66m            2007        36.8k

If the goal is increasing fan base, these numbers suggest that the cost of the stadium doesn't matter. The numbers might even suggest that the longer you have an OCS might be important.

Posting the article wasn't a swipe at USF, although it's easy to do.

USF just doesn't understand the value of having an OCS, even if it is a budget style stadium. You need to get out from under the shadow of the Bucs and create your own identity on your own turf. That brings alumni and the casual fans in, not "NFL amenities."

Additionally, the study mentions that's not what alumni and others want, but they aren't coming to the games now, so who did they interview as part of this study?

They could've saved a lot of paper and said "We're never going to build an OCS." That's the real conclusion of the paper.

It's like an average joe saying "I don't plan to get married until I win the powerball and date a supermodel." It ain't happening.

this is all the evidence you need but also note the bulls study shows usf only avg 15,000 paid attendance last year, their best year in school history.

You do realize that USF will never afford a $300M+ stadium, yes?

I participated in the survey. It was like asking little kids what they want for Christmas.

I didn't take a swipe at anything. Read again. I actually said that I personally would be fine with a Houston (or UCF) stadium. What I said was the survey indicated most USF people would rather wait for a CSU level stadium. I personally would be ecstatic with Houston's stadium, but I'm not making the decisions.

I just really don’t understand the line of thinking from usf. If you can’t afford to build a super high end stadium, then don’t build anything at all? UCF’s whole model was to build something cost efficient and then build & customize later. Frankly, the whole thing has been a boon for UCF.

Because IMO they can't afford any type of stadium right now.
