1. Memphis wanted in the Big East . They were not invited .

2.Karl Benson , Commissioner of the WAC , was recruiting Houston and Tulane for the WAC. Benson goal was to form an eastern division of the WAC . That division would consist of UH , Tulane , Rice , SMU , Tulsa and LA Tech . BB was able to convince Rice , SMU and Tulsa to join C- USA . Later , UTEP was added and LA Tech was left holding the baq.


If Tulane , Houston and /or Memphis had jumped C-USA would have
been left with three programs ; ECU ,Southern Miss and UAB.

If Benson had been sucessful , C-USA would have forced to disband. Instead ,C-USA ended up as a 12 team sports league and the WAC was gutted by conference realignment . BB defeated Benson .

All these events were covered by the Houston and Dallas papers. I just post facts , so if some people don't want to hear the truth.

what if elenor roosevelt had been able to fly? Dude you are taking a huge leap on that one. if memphis had left La Tech would have taken that spot. cusa would have continued. there is no way tulane was going to spend the extra money to be in the wac
