Abso f’ing not. The USAF has messed up space so much that a reboot is necessary. Remember also, the current NASA administrator was a Naval Aviator!
Last, our USAF was far better when their officers were sourced from West Point, Annapolis and ROTC. Turn Colorado Springs into Sandhurst (OCS/OCS)!

Btw... I'm a retired USAF aviator (AC-130, KC-135 and T-43) and had two sons go through USMA and USAFA (current Pilot). Your opinion is laughable and insulting.

Asteroids, Comets, and Aliens come to mind. I think they should stick to soccer, invite all national teams from country's with space programs and call their conference the Galactic 10.

What about Eagles as a nod to the Apollo XI lunar landing module forever engrained in popular memory by the Neil Armstrong quote "Houston, the Eagle has landed."

There will be two elections before this bluster gets off the ground. Let me hazard a guess that the only space this force will occupy is the space inside some politician's head. In the meantime, how about a cyber warfare force?

The majority of the Air Force officers actually come from the ranks. I have no idea how you can assume that the Space Command is a screw up. I doubt they call you to keep you up to date on all launches at Canaveral AS. TexanMark, I salute you. I have taken a lot of C-130s and I doubt our boy knows what AC-130 means. I do. I also flew on a KC 135 to Thule AB Greenland. That was an awesome TDY to the end of the world. lol. I was assigned to a Tanker Recovery team out of Grissom AFB when it was the 305th ARW. The world today makes the cold war seem simple. One more item to cover. Did he really say the USAF grads from West Point and Annapolis were the best? That is pretty fresh.

I was at Grissom from 83-89...pulled 6 years of alert. Went TDY for 6 weeks on my wife's due date of our first son (fortunately he arrived 2 days early). Different era then during the Cold War. Thanks to your service, too.

RE: Space Force to be created by 2020 - Space Force Academy to follow? New conference?
If they are smart they will not create a Space Force, but a Space Corp ( Much like the Navy/Marine Corp).... So if they start a Space Corp they will have those officers trained at the Air Force Academy like the Naval Academy educates Marine Corp Officers.....
Creating a new Space Forces, that would require a new College and tons of money.... But if they do they need to follow the Coast Guard and not compete in DI but DIII....
It will be interesting to see what happens....

New Mexico Military Institution is located outside of Roswell. They have to used that and turned that JC into a 4 year. But, they house students at the high school age as well. NMMI play sports in the NJCAA.

I was there 81-84. Were you there when the 135 caught fire on the alert pad? Very scary. I remember that the cops would always get bored and get us to try to crash the alert facility late at night with an ambulance. Never worked. lol We got pinned face down on the ground many times followed by a letter of appreciation from the Security Police. Funny stuff. Two of the coldest snowiest winters I have ever lived through. Went to Clark AB after that. Much better and golf year round.

I remembered that...the saddest thing I had to do is babysit a 2 year old son of a Boom Operator that was killed in the crash in Panama while his widow dealt with the news. Panama and Central America in the mid 80's was a wild time...lot of weird sh!t going on...most of it I still can't talk about.

I'm guessing they'd want travel partners if playing teams from Mars.

That not only would be fascinating and historic, but add a rival and member for Pistol Pete and the WAC.
Maybe Air Force would join Space Force — 6 hour rivals.

Definitely Huntsville. But will they be immediately ready for the SEC? Maybe not. Probably start out in the Sunbelt and move their way up. But will they rival UAH by fielding a hockey team? That's the big question down here.
