I am actually looking forward to the NMSU vs Wyoming game. As an NMSU alum, I wonder what they will do in the world of Independence. This game could dictate a lot for their season. Who knows what Wyoming will be like this year. Should be a fun game.

As a long-time fan of CSU, what a great starting week!

Funny you say that...

I saw one site that gives Rice the exact same chance of winning its week 0 game as it does Houston of winning its week 1 game. (82%)

As a Rice fan, I’d trade the ‘sure’ week 0 win for winning our week one. Frankly I was surprised to see the underdogs given much of a chance (18%) in either of those games.

Anyway... yeah we “were” in trouble but we have a new coach... so we’ll be just fine k thx!

LOL, every time a school out here plays a SWAC school the only thing they advertise is that their marching band is performing at half time. I think they pay extra for them to bring the band.

When Grambling played at Cal, it was written into the game contract that Grambling had to bring their band. I suspect that other schools do the same.

Somewhat random question here - what can you tell me about JT Ibe? He grad transferred to SC, was wondering how much of an impact you think he might make from someone who’s seen him play a bunch

Amazing that they are getting a game on ESPN2 at home on a Saturday night. That has not happened in years. NMSU is also the first option for the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl, if they get to six wins and, if the Mountain West or Sun Belt Conferences do not qualify the necessary teams to fulfill their bowl commitments.

Semi-unrelated but I’d like for New Mexico St to be in the Sun Belt.

“E-Bay” is a solid player and seemed like he was all over the field for us. With his experience I think his style will translate well to the SEC. Maybe not first team all-SEC but a good pickup. I look forward to seeing what he’ll do this year also.

On the other hand last time we hired a new coach he started out 0-1 against Nichols State.
There’s no gimmes and that’s especially true when you’re coming off a 1-11 campaign.
I just hear so much positive coming from camp that I know (1) we won’t take PVAMU lightly and (2) we’ll take the field against everyone right up to LSU with the right attitude to win. Attitude will only get you to a certain point in football but that alone should be worth more than one win this year!!!

Hope you’re right. Love what I saw on film from him, would love to see him have a really big senior campaign

Everyone needs to get on the same page under a new coach, it may be close for a half.

RE: Week 0 Aug. 25th Games
SWAC schools are interesting to put it mildly.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff threw a fit because NMSU's contract didn't have a separate payment for travel for some baffling reason they believed NMSU was going to pay them six figures for the game PLUS a payment for travel costs instead of one check covering it all.

Our former AD told me he always felt like banging his head on the desk dealing with SWAC schools. He would talk to the AD and say he'd pay X for the game, travel, band and cheerleaders the SWAC AD would say deal and then when the contract arrived want more for travel, cheer and band. In one case he said that they did the deal for the price he offered but had to cut the school six checks. 1 Football, 2 Football travel, 3 Band, 4 Band travel, 5 Cheer, 6 Cheer travel and it took nearly a month for the SWAC AD to figure out how much to allocate to each of the six checks.

After being the story of CFB in 2017 with their first bowl and bowl victory since 1960 and invading Tucson to the point they stole a bowl tie-in, NMSU is just 2900 seats from a nationally televised sellout.
