I like it. I think the G5 needs to do things a little differently if that what it takes to build an audience. Its all about getting folks to come out and offering them a good time once they get there. Do that and they will come back----and perhaps get hooked on that unique atmosphere of a live college football game in the fall.

For 1st time a pro wrestling event will be held after a college football game (SMU at North Texas on Sept. 1). Kevin Von Erich’s sons Ross & Marshall among those who will take part in a World Class Revolution wrestling card at UNT’s Apogee Stadium after the game

Kevin Von Erich played fullback at North Texas before going into the family business. I'm sure most SMU fans won't like this attraction, but it is already getting us extra press, so it could put a few more butts in the seats. Personally, I think the game will have strong attendance anyway. North Texas is bringing a lot of talent back from last season's successful team, and SMU fans will want to see what Dykes will do for the Ponies.

It's definitely stirring up conversation amongst people who are traditionally apathetic to football in my circle. It wont be the cause of a sellout or anything, but it attracts a few extra people like after-game fireworks do in baseball.
With the tradition UNT has with professional wrestling, this is a natural fit. Almost surprised this hasn’t happened.
You don’t have to like pro wrestling to understand the deep roots to that area, and there’s never anything wrong with celebrating what makes you different.

Yep. Lot of ties with wrestling and UNT. I wonder how many of those folks will arrive late in the game if they come just for the wrestling. Either way, it hopefully be a long, fun evening at Apogee.
Time to pray for no rain. If we put on the knee pads maybe we can get temperatures at 90 degrees instead of 100.

I know they did a 30 for 30 on Ric Flair but one on the Von Erich family would be really good also. The backstory on Fritz starting his wrestling league and the sons that died from suicide and drug overdoses. Tragic yes but it would make for a really interesting documentary.

They did one in 2015. WWE also released The Triumph and Tragedy of World Class Championship Wrestling a few years ago. The Von Erichs took on a lot of the sad endings but there's also Gino Hernandez, Chris Adams, Bruiser Brody, Terry Gordy and others not springing to mind that suffered premature deaths. Drugs were a big issue in the WCCW locker room.

Cool, I’ll check it out. Anabolic Steroid use play big role in the premature deaths. Nutrition and supplements have come long way since the 70’s and 80’s
