If uconn came into aac play (-ucf) with 2 top 25 wins, im confident that that would be great for the aac. As long as they keep it together. it would prove that uconn is on the rise. If ucf did fine the rest of the year..it would be even better.

At home. Banks healthy. Only lost to wake by 4 in 2016. Wake Forest without a couple of their players, including their starting quarterback.

Why would a UConn win over UCF in week 1 be a disaster for the American? Because perception in college football still matters and our best team losing to, umm, not our best team, would have every hack sports reporter blogger SEC fan and ignoramus proclaiming that our league sucks. Every American game the rest of the season will feature Joe Tessitore opining on how bama would never lose to vandy. I believe it would be irrelevant in the minds of the college football intelligentsia if both UCF and UConn went on to have great seasons. The story would be ‘UCF national champs yeah right’.

You're not wrong, but in a way you have illustrated a really big problem in the system.

If another AAC team wins the next NY6 bowl, then what it really shows us is that the AAC has DEPTH.

The only disastrous losses in Week 1 would be ones vs FCS teams. Some losses look much better by season's end, while some wins look much worse by season's end.

There are very few disasters in week one. You can lose a playoff spot in week one, otherwise it's just one game and probably the easiest loss to recover from imo.

Biggest surprise to me is that 73% of posters on here have SMU winning at The Mean Green of North Texas. Hate to say it but North Texas should be heavily favored. Several Cincinnati picks over UCLA to me is astonishing as well. I mean the spread on that one should have UCLA by 28 at least. Wake is way overrated but still, they’ll be clearly favored to beat Tulane.
