RE: Schedule Breakdown: LA Tech
Smith has more rushing yards and a TD as well. We are running slightly different offenses.

To update the "not-so-great Fine/Smith Debate".

After 2 weeks of football...

Mason Fine
862 yards
7 TD's 1 Int
72.2 Com%
431 YPG Avg

Smith
589 yards
4 TD's 3 Ints
65.2 Com%
294.5 YPG Avg

I'm still not seeing Smith's high ceiling.

Can't take these stats at pure face value. Fine has thrown the ball a minimum of 40 times in each game. Highest amount of attempts J'Mar had was 37 in the game last night. Tech wants to run the football and that's why we have multiple backs getting 50 yards or more last night and two over 100 yards in the first game. North Texas can't run the football or doesn't want to so y'all throw it a bunch and don't have a back with more than 50 yards in a game. The only number that really matters is the turn overs and right now Fine has J'Mar beat in that category. It'll be interesting to see what the turnover numbers look like at the end of the season though.

Too soon to compare especially considering the opponents.
Of course Side Joe predicted FAU to beat OU take it with grain of salt

Smith has the strongest arm in CUSA, he has a beautiful deep ball. Of course he had all day to throw against Southern like Fine has had the past two weeks.

I would also suggest that LA Tech's Week 1 game against South Alabama was much tougher competition than UNT's game against SMU. SMU is a chit show right now. SMU is a 3-9 or 4-8 team at best in 2018.

Not gonna run my mouth about either until the season is over. Trying to invalidate one doesn’t necessarily make the other better. We’ve played 4 different opponents in 3 different places.

However, to predict that Tech (with a 6'-5" 270 NFL 1st round DE) will sack Fine 4 times and intercept him twice is ludicrous? Nobody said that automatically equates to "Tech is going to blow you out of your stadium". It means Tech has a much better defense than you realize.

Well Austin, I was wrong. Tech didn't sack Fine 4 times and INT him twice. Instead Tech sacked him 5 times and recovered two fumbles. Fun game to watch.
