On one hand what the two guys are saying is silly and they will get brought back down to Earth in Oklahoma. On the other, these guys are tooting their own horns. When did that last happen at FAU?

Come on, dude. let it go. We have spent many a season looking up at other teams. Now we're looking down at everyone. This is how it works. Get over it. Tomorrow, the things may change yet again.

It worries me a bit to be truthful that the #ratpoison has been ingested. When these kids were hungry and counted out is when they played their best. Its always harder to perform at a high level when you think you are good. Don't get me wrong. A lil swagger is a good thing. Are we better then UCF/UM/FSU right now? We'll have to see. The game against UCF will be a huge telling sign on if this is hot air or truth.

You mean, games and strength are decided in the fields of play rather than out of fans and players mouths?...What an interesting strategy....

You do realize we were 8-5 (6-2 conf) last season and played half those games with our backup QB? 7-6 year before that. 9-5 year before that. I think that is decent rebounding from those 3 years prior. We do have a long way to go before being a 'good' football team.

Would I like to see FAU go undefeated and claim a 'national championship' this season... hell yeah. Anything that helps CUSA will help Southern Miss.

Good point. You guys have a solid coaching staff, so I think they should have the players focused. But yeah, pre-season hype can bite you early in a season.

Well their fans were not saying those things.....

18-22 year old players said them and I dont think "those newbies" are any different than any other team in sports when tooting their own horn. Or saying things that seem out of reach.

Hell a few S. Miss fans were making 6 to 8 threads a day after winning 5 or 6 games telling us how good your team was going to be. Only to fall flat. Or how about the thread where a S. Miss fan was bragging about a Fr WR going to be the best ever....before he had one catch.

FAU did really well last year and looks to do really well this year as well. I don't think 1 year of success makes them the next big thing, but hopefully they can pull off a win against UCF or Oklahoma and strengthen their case this year. A top 25 ranking would be much appreciated too. Hopefully they are not letting it get to their heads. Hate for them to get overconfident and lose to someone they shouldn't (unless it's Tech).

Again, FAU is an afterthought in the state of Florida. They are 6th most relevant college fb team in the state.

Maybe, but you have to admit what your guy said is a huge stretch.

Of course it's a reach (that's what 18 to 22 year olds do) but like I said if a S. Miss player said the same thing, especially coming off a conference championship....

Tractor Salesman! I forgot about that. Which guy is that? I realize that players are going to make silly claims Guns. I think though if I were Kiffin that I would tell him to shut his pie hole because FAU has a big enough target on their back as it is and a statement like that adds fuel to the fire and could get this kid hurt by players trying to prove a point. I certainly do not wish that on this young man, but it does happen.

I just know that if a Marshall player said something like that, I would hope Doc would shut him up.
