I don’t see how a true FBS national champ can be claimed if an undefeated fbs team doesn’t get a shot in the playoffs that (supposedly) determines a “NATIONAL” “CHAMPION”.

One could argue, “but who did they play in the regular season?”. Which is a short sided, hence irrelevant, question since that undefeated team has little REALISTIC say in who they play in the short, 12 game, regular season that college football is.

Can you imagine if an undefeated team in a weak nfl division was denied access to the nfl playoffs!? Hell, the afc east sucks every year and how many super bowls has the patriots been in and won? Apply college fb playoff consideration rules to the nba and no eastern conference team should have been in the nba playoffs the last several years!!!

At the very least, stay at 4 teams for the playoffs. Just have a “prove it!” game the saturday after the final cfp rankings are made, whereas, any undefeated team in the top 16 of the final rankings, plays a play-in/prove-it game at the #4 ranked’s house. The winner goes to the 4-team playoffs, the loser goes to a non-playoff NY6 bowl.

After an entire offseason of hearing “claimed” national champions, “fake national champions” “show me where the ncaa says you’re national champions” ..

Damn this feels good. Seeing UCFs name under national champions in the official record book.. just awesome. Vindication.

that's why i wanted bama to win, if georgia won we wouldn't have made it to the ncaa record book. they can call it self-proclaimed all they want, but they're wrong. have a ncaa recognized championship if you want to avoid "major selector" claim issues.
