Week 0: Top Ten Teams for the Access Bowl
Week 0: Top Ten Teams for the Access Bowl

This may or may not be a weekly series, but if it is there will be a few rules (see below). But first, here’s this week’s Top Ten!

1. Hawaii (1-0) solid win this week against well respected foe on the road. This time last year CSU was wreacking havoc against the Pac12.
2. Wyoming (1-0) Road win against FBS opponent.
3. UMass (1-0) Blowout win in a tuneup game
4. Rice (1-0) last-second Win in a tuneup game! (A win’s a win though, see the rules!)
5. UCF (0-0) defending national champs but tough matchup looming
6. FAU (0-0) defending CUSA champs*
7. Fresno State (0-0) defending MWC champs*. Rated below FAU in order to help keep Alabama out of the playoff this year.
8. Toledo (0-0) defending MAC champs
9. Troy (0-0) defending SunBelt co-champs
10. Boise State (0-0) highest ranked non defending champ from last season *
*-edit-see post 7 below for ‘updates/corrections’

Random rules: for consideration in this ranking, be:
A. Unbeaten, or
B. Have one loss, against a well respected team.
C. Two-loss teams will be considered late in the year.
D. This season’s results matter. Last season’s results only used as tiebreakers for week 0 & week 1.
E. CFP “eligibility” granted to undefeated teams with at least one win against a P5 or ranked team.
F. CFP “certification” granted to undefeated teams with two or more wins against ranked teams (CFP, AP, Coaches)
G. More rules can be made up as we go along. CFP committee can do that, so why can’t we?
H. Your opinions are welcome in this thread, well-thought-out or otherwise.

I just *might* have been thinking FAU when I wrote that but the Huskies are not to be trifled with either!

Wyoming looked mighty good last night. Pokes host Wazzu and Boise and visit Mizzou. Bohl took some time to get the machine rolling at NDSU.

An even better reason to have FSU below FAU!

I’m not going to edit my original post but will update with special edition week 0.5 rankings...
6. BSU
7. FAU
8. Toledo
9. Troy
10. Memphis (thank you, thank you very much)

2017 seems so long ago!!!

The road to the championship runs through Cincinnati.

I was gonna say Boise State was the defending MWC champions from last year when they beat Fresno State in the MWC championship game.

Unless the MWC, SBC, C-USA, or MAC can produce an undefeated champ and the AAC fails to do so the AAC champ will be getting that slot.

With Boise State's win over TROY 56 to 20. Boise State's big win over the SBC made a big statement. If they beat Okie State in a couple of weeks? They are the favorite to go to the NY6 bowl.

If UCF goes undefeated they are getting that spot. Maybe even the playoffs

UCF has zero chance at the playoffs. Regarding the Access spot vs an unbeaten Boise, five of the teams on UCF's schedule lost yesterday, including North Carolina. They badly need Pitt to have a good season so that this could be a good win vs a P5 team.

If Boise and UCF both run the table, that will be a very tough decision. Will come down to how good the schedules turn out to be.
