RE: Thoughts, this week's BIG games.
Comparing divisions, I would say the west division won week one.

My top 4 right now would be

1. Ohio State
2. Wisconsin
3. Northwestern
4. Iowa

I think Sparty looked unsettled and undisciplined. I expect them to fall in the polls even though they beat Utah State. I think if we were not shooting ourselves in the foot we would have looked more like we deserved a number 11 ranking.

Nevertheless. It is always a great weekend of football when Michigan State wins and Michigan loses.

Go Green!
Go White!
Go State!

Take the rainout; you don't want to risk losing to Akron in the big coronation game!

Michigan's problem is that they have 'castrated' Harbaugh. They've got him wearing that M jacket and that M hat and those glasses. He's all buttoned-up Bo Michigan Man Style, and ... even though he is a Michigan Man, that's just not his personality.

They have succeeded in taming the NFL-era Harbaugh, the Hot Head, and have broken him in to a Michigan Coach Mold. Problem is, his fire, and hence his results as a coach, flow from that hot temper. Douse that out, as they have, and you kill the spark of fire that made him such a good coach.

Purdue- wow, just ugly! Really was expecting better this year.

Wisconsin- Taylor looked great

Michigan- I guess expected against western Michigan.

Northwestern- just completely shut down by Duke

RE: Thoughts, this week's BIG games.
Ohio State/Rutgers- Ohio State just dominated this game

Minnesota- very impressed they held Fresno State to 14 points.

Nebraska- great to see the enthusiasm back, they will get better each week. Exception, have not heard if QB is Ok?

Penn State- running backs look really good, dominating into the 4th quarter.

Maryland/Indiana/Illinois- didn't catch much of these so no comment.

Iowa- defense looked Great!

RE: Thoughts, this week's BIG games.
Week 2

WI - Another game you think "meh" and realize they put up 45.
tOSU - They're good, they dominate, they should.
MI - Problem has never been beating the teams they should, it's beating rivals.
Neb - Leaps and bounds better then the last few years. Frost will have them competing with WI in no time.
IA - Still looking good. Wisconsin should be concerned.
Maryland - Didn't let down after emotional win. Good sign.
Rutgers - Better than they have been. tOSU isn't a fair measuring stick since they'd do the same to 90% of other teams.
PSU - Salt in the would of a rival. Much better than week 1.
MSU - Tempe is a tough place to play, but I still get a sense of being a tad overrated.
IU - Being the best smelling pile of crap isn't exactly something to brag about.
IL - Way to go, beat an FCS team. Still BAD.
NW - WTF? If you smell something funny in Chicago it's the residual stink from the game.
Purdue - Take a step forward, take three back. Might not win more than 2 or 3 games thins year.
MN - Pretenders. That house of cards will fall hard once B1G play begins.

I agree with the Minnesota comment. Amazing how hyped their fans are about this Quarterback? I can honestly only see them beating Illinois in the west. I'm still not convinced Purdue is as bad as they have played, time will tell.

Penalties towards the end of the game really killed Big Ten in three games (Michigan State, Purdue and Nebraska) and nearly killed in one game (Indiana).

Ohio State is REALLY good. That defensive line is so nasty, and Haskins is an upgrade passing-wise.

WEEK 3

Oh boy....

tOSU - Looked good. Should be a favorite for the CFP
Penn St. - Number 1 threat to tOSU
Mich - Getting better, but still not to the level of the top 2
IU - Look Ok beating Ball. Let's see how things go in conference.
WI - Finding out you NEED fast, skilled receivers and a QB who's mobile, not just a great line & RB.
Neb - I realize you had some guy out of the stands at QB, but you NEED to beat Troy if you're going to demand respect.
Maryland - WTF?
Rutgers - Didn't realize Kansas was the second coming of Oklahoma...... WTF?
IL - Played decent, still a LONG way away.
Purdue - Oh so close. Better than the first 2 weeks.
NW - Akron? Really? WTF?
Iowa - Offense got going, it should have. Let's see how things go next week.
MN - Still think "the boat" is made from paper mache

Thank you for updating, I was back and forth to Columbus all weekend to the hospital. Didn't see a lot of games, that's why I didn't comment on here.

Enjoy hearing others opinions about the teams and where they are headed each week.

Agree with a lot of what you said from the highlights i did see. Just an ugly week, it's still a long season though.

One thing that really stood out to me this weekend. I think Iowa is pretty good? I know, they will lose to a lesser team one week and Beat Ohio State by 100 points the next03-wink But seeing the Oklahoma- Iowa State game and comparing that to the Iowa- Iowa State game, the Hawkeyes should feel pretty good.

RE: Thoughts, this week's BIG games.
Penn State, Ohio State are obviously the tops of the conference right now.

Wisconsin, hell of a win after a bit of a let down last week.

Maryland/Iowa/Michigan- These are all very solid teams, should get better every week.

Michigan State- very solid team, just something looks off with them?

Indiana- above average, having a nice year so far.

Purdue- I believe this is the best one win team in the country. Great talent, mental mistakes have killed them.

Rutgers- I have no words...

Illinois- hung around and offence looks pretty good. Getting better.

Nebraska- time, just going to take time.

RE: Thoughts, this week's BIG games.
Chris Ash has turned out to be an incredible disappointment as coach. I can't even begin to explain it, but he's not the only one at fault here. Everything that could go wrong at the program has gone wrong.

Nebraska is going to take time to sort out their issues. Frost needs at least three years to get things back to where they were during Pellini's reign.

RE: Thoughts, this week's BIG games.
Week 4

PSU v IL - The Illini hung tough for a little over a half. They're a bit better than last year, but I think it had more to do with PSU sleepwalking thru half #1.

MN v Maryland - The Terps hiccup last week seemed to be as fluke. They look like a pretty decent team. The Golfers found out that "The Boat" that looked good playing nobodies has a few holes now that B1G play is here.

BC v Purdue - THIS is the Boilers team I thought we'd be seeing this year.

tOSU v Tulane - What you'd expect. Another warm up game before it gets serious.

MSU v IN - Still think Sparty is a bit over rated. IU is probably a 6-6 team.

WI v Iowa - Iowa proved to be a decent team. The Badgers did a nice job of nutting up after a bad loss and won a away game in a TOUGH place to play.

MI v Nebraska - YIKES! Michigan HAS improved but I think that score was as much to do with the Huskers being more awful than expected. Frost and Husker fans have a LONG road ahead.

Buffalo v Rutgers - WFT happened to the Scarlet Knights? First you make the Jayhawks look like Bama then get clobbered by BUFFALO? They'll be lucky to win another game this year. Me thinks Ash's seat is scorching hot. I wouldn't be making any long term lease agreements if I were him.

Unless some angel doner comes along, we can’t afford to fire him. Even going 1-11, he probably gets another year to burry the football program. As a Rutgers fan, I never thought I’d be looking forward to basketball season so I could forget football season.
