14 of the top 16 are U.S. universities.

How the AAC schools fare in these rankings:
Quote:University of Houston = 201-300 [70-95th in the US]
University of South Florida = 201-300 [70-95th in the US]
Temple University = 301-400 [96-117th in the US]
University of Central Florida = 301-400 [96-117th in the US]
University of Cincinnati = 301-400 [96-117th in the US]
University of Connecticut = 301-400 [96-117th in the US]
Tulane University = 601-700
Southern Methodist University = 701-800
University of Memphis = 901-1000
Didn't see ECU, USNA, Tulsa or Wichita State listed

If private universities Tulane, SMU and Tulsa are such academic assets to this conference why is it that all of our public universities are ranked much higher than the private schools except of course for ECU and Memphis. Memphis has always had some difficulty with scholastic achievements but I did not realize they were rated as low as they are.
ECU is considered a regional university I believe and I don't really know much about Wichita however I suspect they may also be considered a regional school.
In terms of sports the three private schools seem to offer the least. I will except SMU's basketball as they have had several exceptional seasons in the last few years.
Certainly the lesson here is that the private schools must be judged by their sports achievements in the conference and not by claimed but not rated or affirmed rankings.

Congrats, both South and Central Florida are assets to the conference.

I also noticed that no US military academies are listed which is puzzling and nonsensical.
Our military academies have a very narrow scope. Few if any liberal arts, a very limited technical scope, no law or medical degrees and almost NO research are done by Navy, Army and AFA. Hence the low ratings. What the academies do they do well but they do not do a broad spectrum of things and so they suffer in ratings.
It is justified but also somewhat misleading.

I think public, higher enrollment institutions tend to spend more on research, which is a big part of ARWU criteria.

I doubt the military academies are included in many rankings because of the exclusive admission of military cadets only. It's a different system, and probably not a fair comparison, because of that unique environment. If it was compared on pure academic quality of education, the academies would rank very high.

Brown is the commuter college of the Ivy League. Believe me on this as my cousin taught Psychology there for over 20 years. He gave up that job to go to Ohio State. In my view that says a great deal.
Of course I am an OSU hatemonger from way back.

Brown is obviously not HYP but come on dude. Brown and Ohio State are on 2 different levels.
Also your cousin teaches Psychology, undergrad psychology is going to be pretty similar at any 4 year university.
And I don’t know what you’re trying to say by calling it a commuter school, but it’s definitely not. Providence is barely big enough to have a commute lol.
