MOST RELEVANT IN G5!

Houston's 2 home TV appearances this year were 2.539 million viewers and 1.079 million viewers. Both appearances were noon Saturday slots and both went head to head vs P5 games. The million+ viewer games for the AAC are adding up. More ammo for Aresco.

That's on top of the HUGE AMMO that Aresco got last year for UCF's final 3 games of the season:

On Black Friday vs USF: 4.7 Million viewers, which was 49% higher than the previous year's Black Friday game between Nebraska and Iowa.

Then the AAC Championship Game the next week vs Memphis, it because the most watched AAC Championship Game ever when it drew 3.39 Million viewers (56% higher than Temple vs Navy in 2016 and 25% higher than Houston vs Temple in 2015)...going head to head against Big 12 Championship Game on FOX, which ended up as their most watched Champ Game since 2013.

Then...for the Peach Bowl vs Auburn...game drew 8.38 Million viewers...which was up 28% from their game in 2015 (Houston vs Florida State) and 55% higher than 2014. (Peach Bowl had Semi-final game in 2016).

So in 3 weeks, UCF drew:
4.70 Million on ABC
3.39 Million on ABC
8.38 Million on ESPN
---------------------
16.47 Million for 3 straight games

Give some AAC teams good tv networks/time slots and they will bring in numbers.

KL: forgot who from ESPN was on recently on WDAE, but when discussing state teams he specifically pointed out that our Black Friday game has been one of the highest replayed games from last year. If you are a football fan....you loved that game. Of course, if you are a USF fan, you have a love::hate relationship with that game, especially the end..... #$@#

ESPN is making good coin on the AAC. This doesn't mean we will break the bank b/c they are not going to negotiate against themselves or go out of their way to be "fair". IMO, only way we get ~$10-million/team is if there is some legitimate competition for our rights. Which I don't see happening. Hope I'm wrong.

I was watching the Black Friday Game back in the late Spring while I was in a poker tournament in Vegas as all of their TV screens on ESPN Channel(s) had it on during a slow afternoon of weekday sports.

ESPN has done VERY well with the AAC...especially when they give us good time slots on Friday Nights and or even on ABC on Saturdays.

NOTE: Last year on Sept 15, 2017, usf hosted Illinois on a stand alone ESPN Friday Night game (no other game on FS1 like with the Big Ten this year), and that game drew 1.36 Million viewers.

The following week, usf hosted Temple on a Thursday night and drew 992,000 viewers.

NOTE: UCF/FAU game attracted more viewers (1.295 Million) than the FS1 Big Ten Game of Penn State vs Illinois (1.17 Million) on the same night.

RE: ESPN Friday Night TV Ratings Soar with UCF/FAU Game
What we need (maybe this IS happening) is for Aresco and the committee to IMPLY that we would prefer to stay with ESPN. That will signal CBS, NBC, etc. that they are going to have to come strong with the offer AND that there's not a "great" chance they will get us anyway, so there is very little risk in offering $12MM for example. Then we need for NBC, CBS, etc. to leak this projected offer amount in the media BEFORE the exclusive negotiating period with ESPN is over. So what we really need is a bunch of AAC beat writers to start pounding the network execs. with a bunch of pointed questions about "how much do you think the AAC is worth?" I say AAC beat writers because if you don't like the answers, you don't publish them.

I've posted this idea a bunch of times over the off season. We only differ in that I'm actually hoping that we sign with NBC, where the conference would undoubtedly get better promotions and much more respect as being "The sixth power conference ". I'd only want to be with ESPN for a specific package of games. 04-cheers

No other FBS football games on tonight so I wouldnt be surprised if Memphis vs Tulane pulls in some nice numbers this evening.

Pac-12 had a 9 pm EDT game on FS1: Colorado vs winless UCLA and UCLA left winless at games end.

Still expect the AAC game to draw 1 Million or so viewers.
