Rivalry?
With the beat down that just happened do y’all feel this is going to be both teams top rival moving forward? I know for me I’m loving what just happened and most of y’all are already ready for another shot against LU. So can we officially call this a rivalry?

Rivalry really? I have hated playing you guys even for that money but this should be one and done or may be just complete the series in the future that is already scheduled and be done.

RE: Rivalry?
Hard to say. From an institutional fit perspective, JMU is the ideal primary rival for ODU in football and secondary rival in all other sports. But as long as they remain FCS and CAA, that's not in the cards. ECU would be an ideal football rival but, recent unpleasantness notwithstanding, they're well ahead of ODU as a program and would rather think itself a rival to N.C. State and UNC. Ditto Navy.
I think Liberty couldbecome a rival, but one game isn't enough. It'll have to happen organically, where LU and ODU are on the other's schedule every season, or more often than not. I will say this, though: If the long-term future for football in the state is 2 P5 and 2 G5-level schools, then those 2 G5ers are by necessity going to develop a rivalry.
So I'd say not yet, but it's definitely a possibility.

It’s 1-1, so I guess so. But a great rivalry requires both teams to be good and have an equal shot at winning. We just aren’t there. Maybe in a couple years.

As a Christian, I have zero interest in helping further the Falwell's mission.

So as a Christian you have zero interest in spreading the gospel of Christ? Interesting to say the least.

RE: Rivalry?
I would welcome a rivalry with LU. We need an instate rival and I don't see us replacing either UVA or VT in that one. It would help with recruiting, attendance, travel, etc. I say bring it on. They clearly got the best of us last night but would like to see how this could play out over time.

Liberty Online's misleading sales tactics as well as their lack of investment in providing the best education possible for their online students are evidence Falwell Jr has put the dollar ahead of the message. He's a grifter. And as a Christian, I cannot support that.

I wouldn't really consider whatever filth spews from Falwell's mouth as the "gospel of Christ".

The only thing we share in common is we play FBS football in Virginia. I will patiently wait for JMU to move up and be happy to call them our rival. The history is there.

I am perfectly OK with LU being a rival. We need another in state program to consistently play against. Both have defeated the other now and that breeds rivalry. Personally, i want to see LU get crushed because their fans rushed the field after the win on Saturday as if they did something miraculous.

From a purely football perspective, I think it would be fun to be rivals with them.

After Saturday's game, I'm not sure that's an accurate statement.

I did think that was ridiculous but from a fans perspective it was a historic day for us being our first FBS game and win after so many people told us we’d never move up. Now if they continue rushing the field every game which wouldn’t surprise me unfortunately than we deserve all the disparaging and negativity that would bring!
