He's close to 70, so my guess is he wants to fix us up and retire.

Well he needs to go ahead and fire Mo or go ahead and retire.

I do agree with that. Keeping Mo the entire season will hurt the program more than getting rid of him now.

He could go ahead and fire Mo, but he needs to hire an AD before a coach is hired because some guys might not want to come here not knowing who their boss will be.

I think just logistically firing him on what became a short week before a rivalry game just isn't feasible, even though losing to A&T warranted being fired before making it through the tunnel. If we are 0-4 and lose badly to UNC, VT, and USF I think he's gonna be canned. I think he should be canned sooner, but I think that's when it likely happens. Reading his statements after that debacle he knows he's dead man walking unless he somehow pulls off a miracle and beats UNC. That doesn't "save" his job, just probably guarantees him to see October.

UCF is paying Heupel a % of season ticket growth with 2017 as the baseline for his first year. May be something to work into a deal for a new ECU coach to entice them without frontloading it too much.

Isn't ECU spending over $50 mil on a stadium reno? Perhaps they could save a few mil of that for a new coach...

ECU's deal with Skip back in the day was similar. He got a base salary, a % of Pirate Club donations, and I believe $25 per season ticket sold. So basically if we were doing great, drawing lots of donations, and selling lots of seats he'd make a lot of money, and if those things weren't happened he wouldn't. I believe his last year he was making something like 1.7 to 1.8 million. That's the type of structure I'd want to see with a new coach if it's not going to be some kind of guy with a lot of "name value."

Dave Hart should not be making coaching fires till he makes his decision on being/not being the actual AD. This role he's playing right now gives him to clean of an exit strategy in that process if it doesn't go well. Staton needs to give him a drop dead date so he, himself can move on and take care of hiring one. Until that whole mess gets cleaned up there won't be too much movement.

With his advisory role, I wouldn't think he has the authority to fire a coach. That would surely have to go through the BOT and Staton. They would likely consider his recommendation.

I don't believe he will ever be retained as AD, or that he has that desire. Hart's contract was only extended for 3 months, not even to the end of football season. His company, Athletics Legacy Partners, LLC, is set up to do what he is doing for ECU.

I hope he will be involved in finding the next AD, and coach when needed. Hiring him was the best thing that's happened under Staton's admin.

Yeah that’s a big problem right now. Who is actually in charge to fire Mo? If Hart were the actual AD I wouldn’t be concerned because he knows what he’s doing and would have no fear to pull the trigger. We don’t know if he has the power to make that decision or if he even wants it. That has to be resolved very soon, and quite frankly it’s a joke we went this long without settling it.
