So despite attempts to get the NCAA to institute a do-over rule on ****** games or forfeiting the rest of the season due to sadness, the Monarchs nevertheless must play their next game, Saturday at Foreman against FIU.

Forget completely eliminating the bad vibes from the Liberty Flameout; the only way that happens is if ODU does some Georgia Tech-Cumberland mess on the Golden Panthers or Liberty beats Auburn and Virginia. But what would it take to make you feel better about ODU's chances of doing something other than suck in stereophonic sound this season?

Is a win enough? Does it have to be a blowout? Is a close win or loss OK if Williams shows marked improvement? Or wholesale changes to the lineup and playbook that represent hope even in defeat?

Bonus question: If Liberty loses to Norfolk State, does everyone jump off the maglev onto Hampton Boulevard?

I don't think anything can wipe my sadness. Honestly i don't see us beating anyone other than VMI this season and if stars align may be ECU(only because Scottie Montgomery is a bigger mess than Wilder) and that is it from what i can see so 2-10 season is pretty much what i can see and no i don't want us to be a 5-7 team this season so that Wilder and his lame ass buddies can get a pity extension for next season. I want these clowns gone and that's it for me.

Beating VA Tech and competing for the east title will help remove the burn marks from the flames.

Beating FIU will definitely make me feel better, even if its close. I just don't expect it to happen. If we can somehow beat ECU it will be a highlight of the season (and a legit big deal. Other than VT, I want to beat them the most). So if we beat FIU and Charlotte, I'll maintain some hope for a decent season. If we lose, all I can hope for is a win vs. ECU and a 2 or 3 win season.

If somehow we beat FIU, Charlotte and ECU... then perhaps the LU game was a fluke and we're right back on track.

Beating ECU would be a big statement but they just lost to a fcs team and have been in a spiral throughout last season? I'd love to best ECU but that's what many claim was the facade of our 10 win season.

But to the op, we need to win big or look convincing doing it.

They have to fire Jeff jones, wood Selig and Bobby wilder at halftime and get some real leadership.

Or just keep on pretending that aim high isn’t just a total load of BS that the troglodytes have bought into.

They have to beat FIU! They have to look like they know what they are doing. I don’t believe ( I’m sure I’m not alone here) that during the off season they had an extra physical camp. Liberty was far more physical than us. That was a BS lie! OMG. QB play was terrible, receivers can’t catch, offensive line doesn’t block. They had 8 bodies on the line and Cox or Strong still couldn’t run! I was about to cry it was bad! I was ready to drop out of ODU and transfer.

How the hell is App State so effing good? Anyone see the hell they put Penn State through yesterday?

If Liberty loses to Norfolk State it should be pretty obvious how bad we are. So yes, I’d splatter my brains on Hampton Blvd.
