Like the Red Hen in Lexington, VA?

Personally, I like Asics. But my kids are going to have to wear something other than Nikes.

Walking the walk by actually trying to reduce tensions on both sides would seem to me to be far more useful than ramping up tensions.

One would think...

You mean like actually listening to the protestors and trying to make the protest about something it is not?

The NFL has been suffering and most believe it is in part due to the kneeling athletes. Who is the moron at Nike who thinks this is a good idea?

Love it. Nothing more American than dissent and capitalism finding some sort of mutualistic partnership.

I'll buy my new soccer cleats from Nike again!03-wink

Guess it figures that soccer players would support this.

Nike is fine by me.

Memphis athletics signs 5-year extension with Nike through 2022-23

"Our decision to continue our agreement with Nike is first and foremost the fact that our student-athletes and our coaching staff want to be a Nike program," Memphis athletic director Tom Bowen said in a statement. "Their innovations, designs and superior customer service have been truly incredible. This new 5-year agreement is a very strong statement on the relationship we are building together and the future for Tiger athletics. We are honored to remain a part of the Nike family."

I support Penny and the university, fully. However, for me and my family, completely full of Korean War and Vietnam war veterans, we won't be purchasing Nike products. Even my parents met in the Air Force during the Korean War.
I love Cole Haan shoes too. But they're owned by Nike.
What a shame. And for what? Intentionally alienating a massive part of their buying market is insane.

My thoughts exactly.

I play tennis and volleyball too. Must be one of them European liberals.

Or does my kickball team bring it back to good old Amercan libruhl? But then there's the long distance running... and now I'm confused.

Anyway... closest I'll get to playing football is my armchair QB game.

I would guess Nike sees this as a calculated marketing effort. They will lose customers who disagree with Kaepernick, and will gain greater loyalty from those who support him. We shall see how that works.

per Michael Jordan: "Republicans by sneakers too".

Foolish to alienate a significant portion of their target market. Not to mention, poking their partner, the NFL in the eye..........all for the sake of virtue signaling.....

Will be interesting to see the ramifications or if they think no one cares much anymore.

This should be fun to watch.

I find it hard to believe that Nike would go to bat for a QB who is washed up like Kap.

It would be one thing if this was a QB like Rodger, Brady, or even Goff.

I guess the thinking is to appeal to the neighborhoods where that support Kap and buy their shoes.

Get the popcorn ready.

"Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything."

What a crock. This clown is making more money NOW than he did being a mediocre QB in the NFL.

Question for the big brains at Nike......

If you REALLY wanted to make a point by using that slogan, why not have a commercial featuring Pat Tillman, you know a man who ACTUALLY sacrificed EVERYTHING for something he believed in.

I'm curious exactly what these people want to stop their protest? What's the goal? Reparations? Free cell phones? Only colored folks can be cops? What will make them happy with being here, and if nothing will, why not choose a new place that will make them happy? What's the goal line?
