This does not solve the issues at hand. We all need to cut overhead and create more intriguing matchups. Combine all the eastern CUSA and SB for one conference and do the same for the west. Better geographical matchups with less overhead. It's a upgrade for everybody. There is no reason App and UNCC should be in different conferences, or UAB and Troy. Let logic be the driving force and we'll all be better off.

Totally agree for football. And if thats what drives the bus, it will happen. Id argue CUSA is a much better basketball conference and that matters a lot to fans of half the schools in this conference.

It is absolutely ridiculous for anyone hypothetically reforming CUSA divisions to not have USM and UAB in the same division. We are the only two original members and the only schools who actually have a little history between us (relatively speaking). Makes no sense not having USM and UAB in the same division under any circumstances.

I agree, and I don't doubt BB's value in CUSA. I do question its viability. It doesn't matter was drives the bus as you say, if it's not sustainable. Travel cost will continue to rise while budgets struggle to keep up. Realignment will be a money save next go around, unlike the money grab last go around.

A separation and two conferences created. I wish CUSA we could thrive as one, but it’s not working. I watched the number 2 team in our conference get humiliated by App St. Missed tackles galore. How did N. Texas do? Sometimes you have to just back up and punt.

Yep, if App were in our conference we could ridicule them for the crappy attendance at the CCG instead of MT and WKU. It’d be a big game changer.

Those programs are stronger, and have a better winning culture than any teams In either league, with marshal being a close 3rd. Ark st didn’t play us that season. I’m glad that format for determining a “champion” is gone now.

As long as conferences are perceived as brands, CUSA will always be ahead of the Sun Belt regardless of wins and losses.

The only programs I see CUSA inviting is Georgia State and UA - Little Rock. You guessed it. Markets.

Used to be true, pre-2012. News articles from the past few seasons tell a different story though, and so do results. Just sifting through Google brings up articles like "CUSA is the worst conference in football", "CUSA is a failing model", etc.

The biggest gap I see occurring between CUSA and Sun Belt schools is the difference in CFP payout.

Seems like if travel costs really were that big of an issue for both conferences so much so that realigning based on geography would benefit everybody, you would think you would see more teams from your school's parallel division on your out of conference schedule. It would seem to be the opposite case though. I believe FAU is the only CUSA East school slated to play Georgia Southern in the future. I don't see a very significant amount of CUSA/SBC crossover games slated in the future, therefore the idea that travel costs will be the catalyst of future realignment doesn't hold weight.

4 football OOC games a year doesn’t hold weight when considering conference travel costs for the other 15+ athletic teams. But FWIW all of our OOC FB games have been in VA/NC except an upcoming series with Buffalo for some reason.
