17% of Houston students live on campus. A comparison of other AAC members and schools in Texas:

Navy 100%
SMU 54%
Tulane 48%
Tulsa 65%
Memphis 14%
UConn 66%
USF 24%
UCF 18%
Cincinnati 23%
Temple 6%
Wichita St 10%

Texas 18%
Texas A&M 23%
Texas Tech 26%
TCU 48%
Baylor 35%

These stats don't tell the tale. Tulane is not a commuter school, but it also doesn't have a ton of student housing because of a small footprint in a jam-packed city. Students living in off campus private apartments aren't "commuters."

Tulsa had similar issues and bought up a ton of property a couple decades ago just for that reason. Some time in the 1990s (or possibly a little earlier) they made it mandatory for those freshman who didn't come from Tulsa metro to live on campus. Pretty sure some form of the rule is still in effect. However even if not it changed our campus culture. Now a lot of the students stay on campus most of their school time. We have some nice newer apartments on campus that make the choice easier. The immeadiate area around TU is stuffed with small house lots of students rent. I would say closer to 80% live within a mile, maybe mile and a half of campus.

On campus matters but being within a half mile or mile of the school is really the telling statistic.

UCONN students can either live on campus or live out here:

Winter months can get a bit rough should they choose option 2.

Umm, Houston has many more students (both in total and in %) living on campus than does Wichita St.

Many moons ago (mid 80s) I was at a national fraternity conference and chatted with some UH Cougars that they told me they didn't have dorms . . .

Which one? We may be long-lost brothers!

I’m confused. UCF’s game against UNC was cancelled (thanks Norvell). We did still go up two spots in the rankings after crushing Florence.
