There's only one flagship in this conference.

owl at the moon Online has it right. We don't have a flagship, but we have a number of battleships.

Actually Navy has two flagships: USS Blue Ridge for 7th Fleet in the Western Pacific and USS Mount Whitney for 6th Fleet in the Med.

Navy needs better names for their ships.

Like, say, the USS Whup-Ass.

Nice try coog but I don't post on Tech's 247 site. I did look at that thread and you are not helping yourself or UH. Are you going to the game this weekend?

Nice wins but 1 conference championship & 1 New Year's bowl wins for Houston vs 3 championships and 2 New Year's bowl wins for UCF, clearly says even to AAC fans that UCF is clearly the flagship in football. And as far as quality wins in the last 5 years UCF has knocked off #8 Louisville in 2013, #6 Baylor in 2014 and #7 Auburn in 2018.

Number of conference wins since the conference has been at it's current composition...neither Houston nor UCF is in the conversation

Everytime I see a ucf fan claim that "3rd Championship" I chuckle inside. It's like being proud you've dated the town nyphmo. You weren't the first and definitely weren't the best. Everyone tooka piece of it.

3 teams going 7-1 and sharing the championship is EVERYONE? UCF went 15-1 in conference play in the 2 first years in the American for heaven's sake. So yeah UCF and the American conference count that championship, chuckle away!

Wait. Memphis, Cincy and UCF tie at 7-1. Except UCF played neither Cincy nor Memphis. Lost to 2-10 UConn. Barely beat the only decent teams they faced in conference (Houston by an inch. ECU by 2)

Meanwhile Memphis beat Cincy, won the tiebreaker and played in the champions' bowl.

UCF claiming a title that year is about as legit as Southern Miss claiming the 1996 CUSA title after Houston won the game and went to the Liberty Bowl.

About as legit as some Houston fan claiming they are the flagship team in the AAC after beating a below average Arizona team.

By my count, there have been 41 weeks of regular season play since the AAC has had its present composition of East and West divisions.

Navy has been alone in first or tied for first in the AAC West in 34 of those 41 weeks.
Anyone else have a better claim?
