He hates Coastal and Georgia State, yet put them and Charlotte over App.
Also Chattanooga?
I corrected it. I took Towson out and put Appalachian State in the north.
La.-Monroe will be homeless just like New Mexico State. La. Tech do not want them.
Tech can go be independent then, no other school has a problem with us

This thread sounds more like ifs on when these guys realign in the future. With tv money going down, but live online streaming goes up is where the money is. I do think if you are not in the top 7 FBS conference? You may see C-USA, MAC and SBC break apart and reform into regional set ups which means we could see 2 to 3 new conferences. WAC, Southern, Southland, MVC and Big West had 1-A in front of them.
MVFC could take the MVC football credits to FBS.
C-USA west schools along with some SBC west schools could be SWC banner. Southeast C-USA and Southeast C-USA could form into SBC with some FCS call ups.
The northeast C-USA members, Western Kentucky, Marshall, ODU, along with UMass. and App. State could form a northeast C-USA conference.
SWC: West;
Texas State
UTEP
UTSA
Rice
North Texas
Sam Houston State from Southland
East:
La-Lafayette
La. Tech
Missouri State from MVFC
Arkansas State
Lamar from southland
UCA from Southland
MAC: West:
Northern Illinois
Illinois State from MVFC
Ball State
Indiana State from MVFC
Eastern Michigan
Western Michigan
Central Michigan
East:
Youngstown State from MVFC
Ohio U
Toledo
Kent State
Miami
Akron
Bowling Green
SBC: West:
Southern Mississippi
Chattanooga from southern
Middle Tennessee State
UAB
Troy
South Alabama
East:
Coastal Carolina
FIU
FAU
Georgia State
Georgia Southern
Charlotte
C-USA: South:
Western Kentucky
Marshall
Delaware
ODU
Appalachian State
James Madison
North:
UMass.
Army football only
Buffalo
Stony Brook
Albany
New Hampshire
MVFC:
Western Illinois
Southern Illinois
Northern Iowa
North Dakota
NDSU
South Dakota
South Dakota State
West:
Montana
Montana State
Northern Colorado
New Mexico State (football only)
Idaho
Weber State
Northern Arizona
SWC and MVC (in this case MVFC) are not new conferences. SWC just a rebirth and MVFC could wind up as MVC as the leftover privates go to either Horizon or the Summit. Both were 1A or FBS conferences at their time. Nobody would be left out of post season.
I have other schools that could be future replacements.
Kennesaw State
Jackson State
Tennessee State
FLA&M
Northern Colorado
Eastern Washington
UTRGV
North Carolina A&T
East tennessee State
eastern Kentucky
North Alabama
Eastern Washington
Sacramento State
UC-Davis
Cal. Poly
In the future:
West Texas A&M
Little Rock
UTA
Midwestern State
Tarleton State
Central Oklahoma
Wayne State, Michigan
West Florida
Texas A&M- Commerce
Florida Tech
North Florida
FGCU
Clumbus State

RE: The Great C-USA/Sunbelt Regional Split
I have finally found the best realignment for the 2 conferences.
Rice to ACC or SEC back with the caliber schools they originally played with for nearly 100 years, along with a partner, and the rest of those leftover Sunbelt and CUselessA teams to FCS.
There, FIFY.

RE: The Great C-USA/Sunbelt Regional Split
Since C-USA again is cutting out 90% of the fans who care about college basketball by bringing the conference tournament back to Frisco its time to keep beating this dead horse until something happens. We need regional realignment now. All sensible fans of Sunbelt and C-USA schools want this to happen. Presidents need to listen to the fans.

Send your application to Sun Belt Conference, Superdome, New Orleans, LA C/O Karl Benson.
Anyone in CUSA East who wants to join can probably find a spot and the east/west thing most likely works itself out in a few weeks.

2 more years in Frisco? That sucks for Marshall, MTSU, WKU and ODU. UNCC too I guess (just not this year).

The way the Sun Belt officials have set up the conference (top 2 get double byes and first round played at higher seed home court) is going to be interesting this year. I maybe next year move the first two rounds to home sites and let's see how that shakes out.

The SoCon held their tournament in Asheville and it was bonkers. The locals have flooded the civic center and I think Sunday's Semis and last nights Champ game was sold out. Asheville isn't a big city, so locals still look for things to do, but it has plenty to do for out of town guests.
A location like Chattanooga would be a great place to hold either the Sun Belt or CUSA tourney for the same reasons.

I live and work in Asheville and you're not wrong about how many fans swamped the area this weekend. There was gorgeous weather throughout much of the weekend and there were hundreds of Wofford, UNCG, ETSU, and Furman fans all around town, especially downtown. As you said, Asheville isn't massive, but it is a prime tourist destination and offers people tons to do.
Why the Sun Belt and CUSA don't do the same thing in finding regional cities that make sense for programs to compete in is wild to me. The Belt is constantly going to New Orleans, year in and year out, but after awhile, the newness wears off and people want to see other places, visit towns that aren't just conference sites. Places that would be great for the Belt to compete would be Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA, Baton Rouge, LA, and even Asheville, NC to an extent. Regional cities that can be packed out >>> massive cities that don't care about college sports.

That is more of a balance alignment. Northern Illinois and Buffalo sticks out like a sore thumb as outliers.

So, since Buffalo "sticks out like a sore thumb" in the MAC you remove them from the conference; where do you propose they go that prevents them from doing the same thing?

I put them in C-USA north with Army, New Hampshire, Stony Brook, Albany and UMAss. C-USA South would have Marshall, ODU, Delaware, James Madison, Appalachian State and Western Kentucky.

Well, the second mistake in this post is having APP in a conference without GS.

This is a better image for App to be in. A conference with strong football and basketball. A power house with several R1 schools. 4 schools in New York, plus you get Marshall, Western Kentucky, ODU in the south with app along with James Madison who would agree to join , and Delaware would follow. The C-USA south would be stronger in football than the north. Appalachian State Vs Army in the C-USA football title.

There is no reason to beat this dead horse again.
You can have regional realignment any time you wish. Just convince the president of ODU to leave C-USA. You can drop your exit fee at the door on the way out.
No one forced ODU to join C-USA. You could have stayed in the CAA. You can leave any time you wish. C-USA certainly won't miss the whining from some of you ODU fans. You wanted to be in the FBS. Some of you fans need to put your big boy pants on and deal with it.
