Zero QB development
This program has not developed any Qbs, ZERO! We are playing qbs to early because we are in a constant search of playing the best talent and not developing their skills. Just because a player looks better in practice doesnt mean they are ready for the game. We need to develop Qbs for 2-3 years and they play for 2 years. We got away with a few in FCS. None in FBS.
Thomas Demarco - 2009-2011 - Good player but someone had to play first
Taylor Heinicke - 2011-2014 - BW got extremely lucky with TH being as good as he was, without him BW would not still be around
David Washington - 2014-2016 - Great player but we moved him to WR because we thought Shuler Bently was going to be great but we played him to early. If we never moved David Washington, we would have gone to 2 bowl games in 2015 and 2016.
Shuler Bently - 2015-2016 - Great kid, bad quarterback. Bust for as highly as he was rated. But again who knows if he wasn't just thrown in the fire in 2015.
The 2017 and beyond debacle - Last year we had to choose between a walkon, Juco transfer and a 17 yr old freshman, how the hell did we go 5-7. This year we are in a world of hurt between poor recruiting, poor coaching, and zero QB development. Hopefully something changes next year with Hayden Wolff but im not sure he sticks around. Time will tell.

Don't wanna name names but Ron Whitcomb is a DIY youtube QB coach, that's it. I firmly believe he is still raiding the coattails of TH and Washington.

RE: Zero QB development
I wrote this two years ago and it still holds true. EXACTLY TWO YEARS AGO.

When I state developed I mean someone ODU recruited to ride the pine for a few seasons and play the position at QB when we graduate a QB. DeMarco fell into his arms at the start of 2009 fall practice and TH started halfway in his freshman season. Whitcomb has had 8 seasons to try to develop QBs but hasn't. Whitcomb overused quote with TH "we didn't want to fix anything that wasn't broke but there could be improvements" come on coach develop a backup in the meantime. I just don't understand how he profits off these QB camps but hasn't developed a QB for our program. He is just riding the success of TD and TH who he didn't have to develop.
