Jim Carrey 'Say Yes to Socialism', Venezuelan Journalist Gives Him a Dose of Reality
Quote:After actor Jim Carrey said on HBO's “Real Time with Bill Maher” to “stop apologizing” and “say yes to socialism,” a Venezuelan journalist argued against Carrey's socialism support.
Columnist Laureano Márquez wrote in an article for Venezuelan outlet Runrunes that the root cause of the country's problem is socialism.
“Dear Jim, I admire you a lot, but sometimes it seems that the inability of Hollywood stars to understand politics is directly proportional to their talent,” Márquez wrote.
“I read that ... you said: 'We have to say yes to socialism, to the word ['socialism'] and to everything.' Perhaps for you, as for all humanity, the word 'socialism' sounds beautiful,” Márquez continued.
Márquez said socialism has “deep threats” and is not as it's defined by others as “the antithesis of selfishness, synonym of concern for others ... support for the weakest and their needs, of seeking health and education for all.”
Socialism is “distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done,” according to Merriam-Webster.
Let's refer to a popular example using cows that has been passed around on the internet:
Socialism: You have two cows. The government takes one and give one to your neighbor.
Capitalism: You have two cows. You sell one and buy a bull.
“[In] Venezuela, what we find is just that our regime is not — for God's sake — the antithesis of selfishness,” Márquez wrote. “In Venezuela, dear Jim, from what I have just told you, there is no equitable distribution of wealth; wealth is concentrated, as rarely before in our history, in very few hands.”
He added that the Venezuelan people are leaving the country “however way they can” because of the lack of food, medication, and basic needs available.
“[This is] a tragedy that is compounded by the denial of a regime that claims that the population has never been better,” Márquez wrote.
Statistics from January show that the monthly minimum wage for Venezuela was barely enough to purchase a cup of coffee.
The minimum wage amounted to 26,583 bolivars (U.S. $0.26), and the average salary rate is 248,510 bolivars (U.S. $2.20), with an inflation rate around 3,000 percent, Panam Post reported.

he's the epitome of having talent with one thing whilst thinking he has talent across the board....
what sucks, is that there are many that pay attention to hacks outside their level of ability....
I could extrapolate to how smoking ciggy butts to this day was derived from the boob tube that promoted such during any 30 min. segment....
