SMU's 1st win over Navy since 1990.

How many times have they played? I know it's technically a trophy game but how often have they played?

Somebody listed it out earlier in the thread

Looks like Herman is figuring things out.

Giving up 7 turnovers to 0 the last two games will kill you.

They were basically even with Ohio St. and Texas without defensive and special teams TDs.

Oregon was up 31-28 with 57 seconds left.

They had 2nd down and Stanford only had one timeout left. So just kneel once and you make them use their last timeout. Then kneel again and there's under 10 seconds left when you punt. Instead they ran the ball and fumbled.

Stanford then went down and hit a field goal to send it to OT.

Why so many coaches and players are so bad with clock management is beyond me.

Edit: And now Oregon loses in OT

He fumbled on 2nd down at 51 seconds. Just "hide" a few seconds on 1st, 2nd and 3rd down before kneeling and you've got 7 seconds left on 4th down (first couple plays took 4 or 5 seconds, 51-4-40=7), maybe more depending on how quick they start the 40 second clock (I've seen it take 4 or 5 seconds at times).

On 4th down you run a pass play and heave it out of the end zone and possibly eat up the rest of the clock.

I hope the coach takes responsibility for costing them the game.

He didn't. He threw his running back under the bus.

Quote:Cristobal said he didn’t regret his decision to hand the ball off to his running back.

“We felt good about getting downhill with a run,” Cristobal said. “We need to keep working on protecting the ball. Are there other ways to look at it? Yeah, there are some other ways. You’re either going to have to punt or get a first down and we went with the first down.”

Sometimes good decisions have bad outcomes and sometimes bad decisions have good outcomes. It's ironic that on the same day the Oregon coach made a decision that had a terrible outcome the Old Dominion coach made the exact same decision and it had an outcome fans are calling the best thing that has ever happened to Old Dominion.

Early 2nd

Good win for Texas Tech on the road in a place we haven't won since 2001. Nice to get that 9 game losing streak vs the pokes off our backs.
Congratulations, very nice win!

Laughable-Coaches poll

Just a few points-Wisconsin jumps 4 spots to 13 while BYU remains unranked.
Michigan St. jumps up 5 spots to 18 while continuing to be unimpressive against weak foes and having a lost to unranked Arizona St.
Mississippi St. loses by 21 to Kentucky (who at least is ranked ahead of them), hasn't beat anyone of substance and only falls a few slots behind UK at 19.
Oklahoma St. loses by 24 to an unranked team and only falls to #21.
Virginia Tech remains ranked despite being whipped by ODU. Their wins are over William and Mary and a now clearly struggling FSU team.
