AP/Coaches Poll, post-Week 5 (09/30/2018)
AP Poll: https://collegefootball.ap.org/poll/
Coaches Poll: http://sportspolls.usatoday.com/ncaa/foo...ches-poll/
The top 4 is agreed upon by both polls:
- Alabama
- Georgia
- Ohio State
- Clemson
LSU, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Washington, Auburn, and West Virginia round out the Top 10 overall.
UCF sitting at #12 in AP, #13 in Coaches.
Kentucky in Top 15 in both polls, Colorado at #21/#22 respectively.
The only other team in the Top 25 outside of the Autonomous 5 is Boise State at #24 in the Coaches Poll.

Polls looking pretty accurate. Glad to see Kentucky getting their due recognition. I’d swap Boise and USF in both polls.

I'm still shocked that USF is unranked. They have the most impressive of any G5 this year. I hope USF, UCF, and Cincinnati all enter the last 3 weeks of the season undefeated and ranked.

None of the AAC schools beat anybody that are in the top 40. Boise State did with Troy, and Troy destroyed Nebraska. my top 5 G5 schools.
1.Boise State
2.UCF
3.Troy
4.USF
5.Cincinnati
Boise State does have a much tougher schedule. They still have BYU, and the MWC Championship.

I'm not so sure about that. My Tigers, Washington, and Notre Dame are all vastly overrated. Auburn will face both Georgia and Alabama so that will probably take care of our positioning. Washington, and none of the PAC schools, deserves a top 10 ranking but who will they play capable of beating them? And if Notre Dame gets by Va Tech who is left who can expose them?
Somebody will get into the CFP this year who doesn't deserve the slot and will get blown out. But then that wouldn't be very unusual at all.

Thanks! I'm hopeful that others begin to see the crapola that the American has to go through every season. Not to take a shot at the pac12 but objectively are they better than the AAC? Colorado just got ranked for being 4-0, but their opponents are a combined 1-16, HOLY COW LOLOL. USF is undefeated with 2 p5 wins after finishing last season ranked. Why are they still behind Boise state after they got their doors blown off against Oklahoma state? Cincy is undefeated and can't sniff the top25. Now as the season plays out the talking heads will point to UCF having not played anyone when the truth is that the American has been underestimated for the majority of the season. It turns into a biased echo chamber. smdh

I could see Notre Dame getting left out if there are five undefeated:
1) Alabama/Georgia/LSU
2) Ohio State
3) Clemson
4) Oklahoma
5) Notre Dame
Florida State’s self-destruction really puts a damper on Notre Dame’s strength of schedule, although the win over Stanford helped.

Your Tigers and Washington have a loss, Notre Dame is undefeated.
I don't think that any of the three are "vastly overrated", particularly ND.
It just beat the #7 ranked team by three touchdowns and has another victory over a ranked team in Michigan.
There are a grand total of five losses for the top fifteen teams, combined. ND is responsible for two of them.
ND has done what it needs to do this season to be ranked where they currently are.

I hope that you are right. I would enjoy a #5 final ranking for ND. I would take that right now.
I don't worry too much about the four team playoff. If it happens, cool, but that is not the only barometer of a great year.

I'm shocked that UCF, with essentially the same resume as us, is ranked, and highly at #12. That makes no sense.

In that scenario, Clemson or Oklahoma gets left out, not Notre Dame.
Clemson will likely have more SOS problems than Notre Dame, who has wins over the #14 and #15 teams. Clemson isn't facing any ranked teams as far as the eye can see.

Boise State should not be ranked at all. They got blown out by Oklahoma State. The AP poll got it right on Boise State, but wrong on USF and Cincinnati.

It's a product of the laziness we see year in and year out with the AP voters and the coaches where they keep their preseason rankings stagnant and just keep moving teams up and down on their original list as teams lose. They totally ignore anyone undefeated that wasn't on their original ballot

Boise State was blown out by the only good team they have played so far. Are Wyoming, UConn, and Colorado State examples of a tough schedule?
Also, Troy lost to Boise and was almost upset by ULM. The Nebraska team they beat was garbage. Sounds like you only pay attention to G5 programs when they beat terrible P5 teams.

Boise was destroyed by an average Oklhoma St. I think Cinci is much improved---but I wouldnt read too much into their undefeated record just yet. USF is solid. UCF is for real. The Pitt scores vs Penn State and UCF look quite similar. Boise or Fresno are tops in the MW---but both appear to be miles behind UCF at this point in the season.

Probably because you've totally whiffed in your analysis. UCF is playing like a legit top 10 team right now. Lets see if they can keep it up. Im unsure about USF---they may or may not be for real. Cinci is undefeated---but I remain skeptical. However, I felt the same about UCF at this point in 2017 and they proved me completely wrong.

UCF led Pitt 38-7 after 3.
Penn St led Pitt 30-6 after 3.
Only difference is Franklin has bigger reputation than any any coach in the country for running up the score.
AP has both ranked accurately.
USF beat Illinois by 6 and ECU by 7. It’s a better resume than Boise but not level with UCF currently at all.

App. State almost upset Penn. State. They have to still play Troy. Troy win over App. State will say differently.
