You have to admit that going after a potential Heisman candidate is never going to be taken lightly. If the player was John Smith, perhaps some slack may have been given. But going after a guy's future career with the potential to even make the HOF at the pro level, he is that special, is not cool. The Navy players have no pro career dreams since their future is the Navy.

Coach Niumat this week made the point that Ed Oliver is the second guy we have game planned for as an individual in his time here at Navy. The first was Aaron Donald, now a perennial All Pro. I was fortunate today to converse at a tailgate with our former star quarterback who highlighted that the gameplan for Donald included a lot of go-away-from-him. So "going after" is way off base. I'm about to respond to the link w the video and watch it.

It's not acceptable against any player, Heisman candidate or 4th stringer. It's dirty play and shouldn't be accepted by the referees and shouldn't be accepted by the coaching staff.

I'm not talking about "incidental" chop blocks, the one linked to above is deliberate intention to destroy a player's knee. There is no excuse for that play, no defense of it. Yes, the refs did call two chop blocks against Navy today, but to allow that one to slide is BS.

I had to leave the game after Navy's first drive of the 3Q. I listened to you guys take and extend the lead, but was doing HS homecoming photos for the fourth. Our radio guys are actually pretty good about acknowledging "yup, that was a good call of a chop block" and I didnt hear any.
We've actually done a LOT less cutting on the interior line the last few years: technique now is almost all at the hip.
I'm about to watch the link you provided.

Gonna take another couple years as bad as this one to get us down to .500 in AAC conference play.
If you guys dont s**t the bed AGAIN in conference play you'll equal Navy for number of outright West division championships.
Congrats.
Better team won today.

I appreciate your honest assessment. I therefore retract my request that you **** yourself.

I got heated about that play, and several others. Navy-Houston is becoming a hell of a rivalry. Outside of that play, I'm more disgusted by the refs than anything Navy players did on the field.

And I can't stay too mad at Navy. Three of my grandparents are WWII Navy vets, including my 96-and-a-half-year-old Grandma (a WAVE).

Still active duty, but not a SWO. Rarely called a ring knocker, and I can't even remember last time I wore it - opal is a soft stone and it's already some major chips.
