I think the pick 'em games (Fla/Uga, Ky/Mizz, NCSt/Cuse, Iowa/PennSt, Pur/Sparty, Miami/BC) make this one of the hardest set of picks this year.

I have Iowa State as a slight upset, and if there is a trap game for Clemson this is it. F.S.U. has the size to stay with them. Clemson is the clear favorite but this will be F.S.U.'s season maker or breaker, IMO.

Obviously the 13 teams aside from Clemson are not all at the same level, but take away the Tigers and it does look like a lot of blah. Some top half teams have weeks where they look great, but there isn't a single team outside of Clemson I trust week to week to deliver a good performance.

Virginia Tech entered the season with basically no experience in the defensive backfield (and not much anywhere on the defense). A few early wins fooled people into thinking that didn't matter... then ODU happened. However, 3 ACC wins started the "VT might be OK" bandwagon rolling again... then GT happened.

BOTTOM LINE: VT is not all that good this year - they just caught FSU and Duke at good times.
