the thing that's interesting is we need 78 teams- and right now we have only 77 non Ole Miss/Liberty teams with fewer than 5 losses.

So it wouldn't take that many upsets for us to start needing teams.

one thing we've got is a few teams that yes, are 1 game away, but maybe have 1 realistic chance of getting that win....

I give you Maryland as a prime example. They have 5 wins....

They play Saturday @ Indiana.... lose there and to go bowling- they need to beat either Ohio St or @ Penn St.

The list I provided, MD was the obvious but that really was the only one that truly I thought would be unlikely. Also, there are 10 teams that SHOULD get there sixth win.

Temple - @Houston, USF, Uconn
Northwestern – Iowa,@ Minn and @ILL
Iowa State, Baylor, Tex, KSU, Incarnate
Marshall Char, UTSA, @FIU
Toledo NIU, Kent, @CMU
Nevada: CSU, @,SJSU @UNLV
Stanford. @OR St, CAL, @UCLA
USC Cal, @UCLA, ND
South Carolina, FL, Chat, @Clem, Akron
Texas A&M Ole Miss, UAB, LSU

in some of these games we get rivalries. Case in point is USC. You know UCLA would love nothing more to knock USC out.

I'm calling it for Syracuse over Louisville- giving Louisville their 8th loss.

So updated thru tonight's games..... Other game is Boise/Fresno with both bowl eligible already.....

48 schools are already eligible. Four more are guaranteed to become eligible today. Another 18 could possibly become eligible. Eleven of those are favored to win today, 7 of them by double digits. Of the 7 underdogs, only one is by double digits.

So chances are good we will have as many as 63-65 teams eligible going into Week 12. At the same point in the season last year we had 59.

Yep. The Terps let one get away today, and now they are in deep doodoo.

We're up to 52 eligible, but no team that wasn't expected to win today. All were double digit favorites so far.

One thing we're seeing is games where a 4-5 team is playing a 5 win team. Yes the 5 win team is winning- but it's also giving the 4 win team 6 losses.

Updated thru tonight......

Got 64 bowl eligible teams now. Have 22 teams with 5 wins right now. Need 14 of those to get that 1 more win(or Hawaii) to be safe. Things could get really interesting....

I see 2 5-5 vs 5-5 games right now- last week of season- Purdue/Indiana and Texas Tech/Baylor.

Pretty soon the conversation might change to which eligible teams get left out. Last year 81 teams were eligible, and at 64 after Week 11 we are five teams ahead of last year's pace.

Which is a much better conversation. I would love to see few more contractions of bowls. Always thought Bowls should be awards not participation trophies. Then again, I wish we go back to the AP and UPI deciding national championships and Bowls stop on New Years day. 03-wink

I'm with you. And while they're at it they need to get off my lawn, dammit! 04-cheers

RE: 2018 APR 5-7 watch
Here's the thing right now-
14 teams needed out of 35 teams

10 teams currently with 6 losses
20 teams currently 5-5

If all of the 6 loss teams don't make it that's 14 teams needed out of 25 teams.... The 5-5 teams are interesting. Need to get at least 9 of those 20 5-5 teams then in. If it's 9- you'd have 5 teams needed out of 5 teams.

What will be interesting will be a team like Virginia Tech. They are 4-5 now and had a game get cancelled due to Florence. If they go 1-1 next 2 weeks they're 5-6. Haven't heard about them getting a makeup game. They might need it to go bowling.
