I just got off the phone with Aresco....
If you are an ECU, Tulsa, or Tulane fan, you may want to make sure your suitcases are in good working order.

I don't do Twitter, but good luck to ESPN trying to ignore a conference with 3 top 25 teams or more. NBC (football and second tier basketball) and CBS (basketball and second tier football) splitting our content would give us two national ota entities as bullhorns.
More importantly ESPN is forced to talk about us but uses it strictly as an opportunity to run us down. We are not part of their plan and exist as profitable cannon fodder to them. Would no coverage by them be worse? Especially if we gain support from two other networks? ESPN isn't a man among boys anymore, they're just another guy on the sports scene.

Finally!!! Someone else is seeing what I've been saying for months now With our ratings and fan support, ESPN would use us as the main draw compared to all of their other g5 packages. The AAC would definitely be stuck in the g5forever with them. Aresco and the AAC already know this and I don't have any doubts that they have or had no intentions on signing with ESPN for more than a tiered package anyway. The only way to ever get out of the g5 is to maintain control of our inventory and spread it around for maximum value and promotions.

It doesn’t have to necessarily go that route. I have no real problem with SOME of our stuff being on ESPN+. SOME of our stuff is on ESPN3 right now—-which is just as bad. The key for me is the level of ABC/ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU exposure has to stay the same or improve. Ideally, we’ll see a contractual increase in ABC/ESPN slots (we’ve already earned that anyway).
The issue with going back to ESPN is they would probably want to put at least some of what we currently have on CBS-Sports to ESPN+. I’m not big on that idea—however, with bowl negations ongoing—there could be some room for horse trading.
My preference has always been dividing the package between ESPN, NBC, and CBS-Sports. That theoritcally nets us the greatest monetary value and exposure.
