You can call yourself Tech when you have more National Championships. Try winning your first though ... the longest road begins with the first few steps. The guy dusting the "reserved for National Championship" trophy case must have vicious tennis elbow by now.

Excellent point - I'm sure my grandfather and great grandfather were very impressed with Yellow Jackets football. After all, beating someone 222-0 has to get you some attention -- even if it was over a hundred years ago.

But Thursday night will be a great warmup for the Hokies big showdown with the Cavaliers. VT will be going for its 15th consecutive win over its in-state rivalry. How's that Clean Old-Fashioned Hate working out for you Jacket fans?

Tis better to have won and then lost than to have never won at all.

We can't all have Cavman as our in state rival. And GT has fared better against the SEC than Virginia Tech has.

VPI = Virginia Polytechnic Institute.

When it became a "university", the name was changed to "VPI & SU" (adding "and State University")... but that was deemed too long, so it was shortened to just "Virginia Tech".

Only really old geezers call it VPI nowadays.

OK, I have to admit, that's a pretty strong comeback. Rep points involved!
