The Big 12 will not hold together after 2024/5. If there is going to be a GOR, then it would have to be for 5 years or include a penalty exit or a clause saying that the GOR is null and void if more than 1/3rd of the conference leaves.
I think that defeats the purpose of, and (more importantly) completely devalues, a GOR.
Yep, it devalues it but lets be honest. With a GOR well get what? Maybe $8 million a year? Without, probably $5 mill. Its just not enough to make getting rid of a chance to move up worth while.
Texas and OU have very real options in 5 years. Is maybe $15 million over 5 years worth signing over our chance to get into a better situation. Nope, it isnt.
USF isnt hurting. We havent overspent on facilities. We haven't financed anything expensive. We signed a great deal for our marketing rights to Jeff Vinicks company (he owns the Tampa bay lightning hockey team) that makes us around $3 million a year. We paid nothing for our coaching staff for the past 2 years and we signed future game series that will make us at least $3 million and probably more around $7-9 million.
Our academic ranking is skyrocketing which makes us even more attractive and our media market moved up from #13 to #11 over the past couple years. Were positioned really well to wait the 5 years. No point on making that move.
I don't think there's a fanbase out there that when given the opportuity wouldn't swap out the playing in the AAC for a rebuilt Big 12.

yeah, well I'm not 'most people'.
My mom told me I'm special.
Yes, yes you are special indeed. Now tighten your helmet strap and get that crayon out of your mouth.
Cant believe how many people are still on here. I walked away about a year ago and you're still here.
Was going to ask where you went lol.
Got tired of the uncontrolled UCF trolls. Decided to come back to see if it has gotten better.... so far, it doesnt seem much different. I liked them better when they went 0-12. A mild dose of humility made them bearable but now they are back in full force.
Cant wait till their program takes another downturn. I think its time for Cincy or Houston to take the mantle for a couple years.
It's literally impossible for Temple to get any respect within conference circles or nationally. We just beat both of those teams with a QB who's back for two more seasons. We're next in line if UCF's reign comes down any time soon.

Really. Don't people get the news anymore? We just hired the AAC 2019 Coach of the Year and Recruiter of the Year and they talkin' about Cincy or Houston grabbing the mantle. Cincy might have a fighting chance of coming in second next year, and without knowing about Milton's status not sure where to put UCF. Let's just say no one should be surprised.

Temple doesn't get the respect they deserve because they get a new coach more often than Pony changes his tighty whities.

We've built a drive thru lane for coaches, true, but it seems to be working better than the UCONN plan.

Yea because our program has been so successful that our coaches are all getting poached by power conference schools. At some point, you can't call what Temple has done, snagging up and comers and sending them up, lucky. Al Golden might have been lucky, Addazio might have been lucky, Rhule might have been lucky, Collins might have been lucky. But the 4 of them consecutively? That's not luck, that's our school and culture putting those coaches in a position to succeed.
And for the record, Al Golden got fired by Miami, Addazio got extended at BC because their expectations are to not be a laughing stock, and Rhule hasn't exactly lit the world on fire at Baylor quite yet. Maybe we weren't only blessed with the talent of these coaches, maybe these coaches were blessed to come to North Broad. Yea, these coaches, especially Golden and Rhule, were a major part of changing the culture here and making it a destination for guys like Diaz and Collins, but my overall point is that our coaching carousel is an illustration of the state of our program.
