Here's the scoop. Yoda, a long time WAC poster, evidently is able to pull information out of the WAC headquarters...he has been accurate with his data.

Boy is TCU looking foolish.

Their decision appears worse and worse everyday.

Talking about no clue.

TCU jumped to a conference whos games have performed so poorly that it ranks as the lowest-rated conference on ESPN. Not to mention that exposure was already going to be a problem in the MWC but now exposure has really fallen and you're stuck with travel costs, playing in the snow, exit fees, and entrance fees.

To play devil's advocate, yes they will have more expenses. But the also are getting $1.2M a year per team for the next 7 years. That's IF the network doesn't fold under all it's debt. And if it's a success, that's great and they will be looked at as visionaries. But if it flops and they have to come crawling back to ESPN for exposure, $48M will be a pipe dream because ESPN won't want to pay them anything.

Let's see what the CUSA contract turns out to be... If you guys get a good deal, great. If you guys get lowballed, who did the right thing... It will all come to fruition. 03-wink

YOU know....it is a valid point to see what the NEXT CUSA Contract will be..... Everyone knows it won't as much as before....

..however.... I think our FBALL pacakge + championship game over previous configuration can offset any drop in bball tv revenue so we might really be about even in the end.

But what the NCUSA tvc deal will be...CSTV just aint gonna cut it as a tv deal for an entire conference.... could CSTV bankrupt b/c of this deal? I mean if the ad $s aren't there then you can't pay the bills....and a very limited network area kills. I mean I wouldn't be as mad if CSTV did games other networks didn't want/cover.... but hte whole deal.....R I S K Y.

I think CUSA ought to hit up NBC and FOX/FOXSN so we can get more Saturday games..... and more Thu night games. I mean the OFF NIGHT games ( aka Tue, Wed, and Fri) piss off High School coaches (see ECU as a prime example) and Fans just don't turn out for them either. So while you get Game of the week status and all..your stadium looks half empty on tv and ......

Does CSTV currently have an ad base? From what most posters familiar with the station say, it's a pay channel like HBO.

Also, IF we cut a deal with ESPN, they will have exclusive rights to our conference games. In other words, the only Saturday games we would get in conference would be ESPN or ABC. Even Fox would be out of the question to supplement the ESPN deal.

After all this discussion, I'm thinking this is a win-win for all involved.

MWC conference got a payday and released from a network that:
a) didn't fit their schedule and time zone
b) they had the lowest ratings, even lower than the MAC.

CUSA will now be exculsively the non-bcs Espy daddy and will probably get better time slots and perhaps even more exposure.

If CSTV is successful, the MWC has paved the way for all non-bcs conferences to gain better access.

The MWC conference is taking all the risks (though the risks are much lighter than if we changed) and CUSA can do nothing but prosper from it.

that would be nice and all, but CUSA has Banowsky as Commissioner... He has done absolutely nothing for CUSA... Now if Slive were still here, God... things would be completely different.

The only two major ad sponors I have actually seen in print are Coca Cola at $10 million and Nike at $10 million.

That may be but you guys just helped CUSA's cause immensley by lowering the available game inventory for ESPN. Who'll they turn to to make up the difference? The BCS teams aren't going to fill those slots.

Deep down, Yoda and Tallgrass as well wish there respected schools could be with a confs that is going to get paid $1.3 million a year with an infinite amount of exposure on television, national over-the-air and satellite radio and video-on-demand. Not chump change like the WAC got and CUSA is about to get.
