We've won multiple games without attempting a pass, so there's no shame in that line.

I mean no offense with this comment, but I don't know how you guys can stand watching that offense and game style every single week. I know it's effective when working right but it's soooooooooooo boring.

No offense taken. Fifteen years into this thing, most Navy fans have come to realize that not everyone is smart enough to understand and appreciate the offense.

There are those who think it is "three yards and a cloud of dust" or call it "wishbone." Those old power I or wishbone offenses used option principles to get more blockers at the point of attack; the Johnson-Niumatalolo-Jasper offense uses option principles to get the ball to play makers in space. Johnson's design incorporated run & shoot principles - the slotbacks where they are make this a four-receiver set every down. Miami-GaTech was in my remote rotation last night (it's always nice to watch Miami lose, seeing the Navy offense do it is an added bonus) and they quoted the stat that GT is top ten in yards per pass attempt.
It's actually designed as a big play offense.

If the "soooooooooooo boring" is that it seems like the same play over and over again, then two things...first, it means you're missing some nuance. Second, I for one like it when the entire stadium knows what's coming and we can do it anyway. I also enjoy seeing bigger stronger faster athletes that our guys shouldn't even be on the same field with sucking wind in the second half.

Now this year hasn't been at peak level, so yeah, a lot less attractive. Take a look at November two seasons ago though: two punts in four games that month, and averaged 61 points per game in three AAC games.

Thanks for your concern, but we're pretty happy overall. This year is ugly to watch at times, but we're pretty happy.

Personally, I long for the days of I formations and wishbone offense. It bothers me to see Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas throw the ball at the rate they do. The greatest game that I ever watched was a 28-21 game between Oklahoma and Nebraska in the mid eighties. It was back and forth throughout the game and every inch of the field was contested. Nebraska had a goal line stand to win the game. The wishbone and I formation are the types of offense I played in high school and have a better understanding of this game. Airing it out 40 times a game is boring for me. I like a stout defense and a running game to determine a win rather than the last team with the ball wins.

I understand that in 2017 Cinci allowed Navy to rush for 569 yards (7.9/att). Perhaps you just forgot?

I love how people try to say "OMG you gave up 374 yards rushing!!". Newsflash: that is the entire Navy offense and the triple option is not a typical running attack. It's 100% of their offense. No one would blink an eye if an offense finished the game with 374 total yards if half of it was passing.

"But, but but Navy is one dimensional!!". Yea, and they've been running for 400-700 yards a game for years now.

We weren't talking about just this year, but rather the difficulty of stopping the triple option in general. I reminded UC that Cinci got ripped by Navy last year in the hope that he would realize that making blanket statements based on a single game may not be such a good idea.

Navy hosted Ohio State in 2014 and rushed for 370 (added 2/4 20 yds passing). Ohio State lost to Va Tech the following week but recovered to beat Oregon in the CFP Invitational Championship Game.

The front end of that home and home, in 2009, Navy visited Ohio State in the Horseshoe and totalled 350 yards, but almost half was Ricky Dobbs passing. With 2:23 remaining, Navy scored and was going for two to tie it; OSU intercepted for the final four point margin. The '09 Buckeyes won the Rose Bowl to finish #5.
