Memphis is so low due to resume. Their 6 wins have a combined 5 victories against FBS teams. I just can't put them over SMU with that.
our final games are @SMU and Houston...so we're about to get our chance to move up the conference rankings IF we're good enough.
I think you guys win at least one of those. Both would not be crazy, either.
(please beat SMU)

I'm convinced that Temple's sole purpose is to troll the conference by losing OOC games to beatable opponents, and then miraculously figure out how to be successful in conference, thereby hurting perception. They do it in basketball too. They are pros at this. It's uncanny.
Temple has pretty good football and basketball programs, but their wins and losses make absolutely no sense, ever.
In basketball, it's the opposite: the past two seasons, we have won two different preseason tournaments against ranked/eventually ranked teams (FSU and WVU in 2016, Clemson and Auburn in 2017) and proceed to lose to like, ECU and Tulane in conference. Also we always have bad OOC losses (UMass, George Washington, etc.) while always playing the top of the conference (Cincy in particular) close every time. It makes no sense.
At least with this, we can chalk up the first 2 games as the coaches being unprepared and stubborn.
You are right. I took a look back at it, and Temple does have good OOC wins in basketball. But always with the head scratching losses too (which is probably what I had in my head).

Curious at the makeup of the 12 AAC Blogger Poll voters. Two each from UConn, UC and Temple, one G5 blog, and none from Memphis, Tulsa, ECU, SMU. In order of their "12 voters" listing above, it's USF, UH, Tulane, UConn, Navy, Temple, UC, G5, UC, UConn, Temple, UCF.
Yeah, that's representative of the entire conference, lol.

When the teams you beat to get bowl eligible are a combined 9-40 + FCS, does it really count?

I'm sorry but the head-to-head wins should count for something.
Sure, is Purdue better than Ohio State and Akron better than Northwestern? Is Viianova better than Temple? Asking for a friend.

SMU's biggest problem has been it's schedule. Our losses have come at Michigan, a full strength TCU, the best UNT team in possibly half a century, a still underappreciated UCF, and to Cincy by one play.
We're actually decent.
Tulane has had a similar experience. Losing to 9-1 UAB by a touchdown, wake forest(comparable to TCU) in OT, Ohio State 9-1, and Cincy 9-1. Our 'worst' loss was to SMU and that is looking less bad every week.
