RE: Laughable Scores - 2018/19 Men's Basketball - pt 2
UCF is going to be a good one to watch because of those odd losses. They'll need to keep up with the likes of Houston, Temple, and Cincinnati for serious consideration. Wichita is one of those weird teams this year, there with UConn, Memphis, and SMU. Those guys won't be going anywhere, but tough plays. You just have to win against them.

every conference has them....
Big East with Xavier, Providence, Georgetown, and DePaul
Big 12 with Oklahoma St, West Virginia some nights
Big Ten with Illinois, Penn St, Rutgers
SEC with South Carolina, Arkansas, Georgia, Texas A&M, Missouri, Vandy
Pac12 with everyone(their problem is no top teams)

Sure, but who in the AAC is really looking like a lock should they take 2-3 “bad” conference losses? Houston at best thus far.
I don’t know if equating what may be the bottom end of the Big East is good to the AAC’s middle per some of these metrics.

Sorry but a tier 2 loss is not a bad loss. And that's what Wichita is for UCF. And it's a better loss than DePaul beating St John's at St John's(that's a tier 3 loss). And equal to DePaul beating Seton Hall last week.
Also, you said Memphis. Right now a road loss at Memphis is a Quad 1 loss... That'd be like saying a road loss at Xavier is a bad loss... Sorry, don't think so.

Well, that's why we'll see. Especially if that Wichita loss stays within the tier, since they're all over the place. The good ones will get their work done.
TBH, I'd bet at least one of the Temple/Cincy/UCF cluster doesn't make it (my hunch is UCF). I doubt Lunardi's current bracket with four AAC teams holds up. Then again, I'm not loving the likelihood of four Big East teams, either, especially if they start gutting each other. Would be cool to see a Big East/AAC play-in game.

Wichita is up to 105 now. For it to be not tier 2 would force Wichita to drop to 136. They've had a brutal schedule so far- 1st 4 games- Memphis, then 3 of the 4 top teams. Oh and Saturday they get, the other 1 of those top 4 teams. They only play Cincy again of the top 4 teams.... So their schedule is going to soften considerably the rest of the way.

If had to rank the AAC teams in order of most likely to least likely to get an at-large I'd go:
Houston (Lock)
Temple
Cincy
UCF
Tulsa (They would have to seriously start kicking ass but they do have some nice wins)
I think UCF could run into the issue of not having enough quality wins. They really should've made it through the non-conf with 0 losses.

I think Cal is making a push for the M7 conference as the worst team.... They lost last night to Washington St by 23 points.
Only one that I think is worse than they are is Tulane.

Agreed. FAU is going to sting them. Depending on where Missouri lands in the SEC, that one might, too.
Conference games are what they are, but their saving grace when playing the weak or medium teams are on the road. UCF is in that territory where they can't let one of the AAC's weaker teams get one by them in Orlando.

Today is a holiday called “Basketball Day Indiana” where IU, PU, ND, Butler, Valpo, Evansville, & Indiana St all play in-state. Everyone at home except IU@PU.
The Loyola @ Indiana State game on espnu right now is sold out with 10.5k people.
That state’s dedication to basketball is truly amazing.

The thing they seem to have going for them is that the writers picked them to win the league. I think they're going to have to beat Cincy and Houston if they want to feel safe.

Indiana is to basketball as Texas is to Football. Amazing Indiana State got a crowd like that...they really haven't been relevant since Larry Bird.
One thing to note: Notre Dame fans really are not into basketball...vast majority are Football only fans.

Penn grabs a share of the Big Five title beating Temple at Temple. Penn has Saint Joesph’s left for the crown outright; a Philly sweep.
Penn’s getting some of their guys back.

definitely not a good night for the A10
#52 VCU 65
#128 Rhode Island 71
Final
#67 Saint Louis 64
#150 Duquesne 70
2:22 to go in 2nd half
both of these pretty close to knocking the A10 out of having almost any shot at an at large.

Big props to Dambrot at Duquesne. He has made an immense impact to their program in only his second year. Two years ago, they were 3-15 in the A10.

You talk about a program that would be a natural locational fit for the Big East.... Would be a perfect connector.…

Absolutely. Especially since the eastern schools need an answer to a midwestern (SLU/Dayton) add.
