Could be nowhere. Sure hope not, but could happen still.

I had it pegged. I could just sense it. Six wins was not good enough this year and to be honest, it wasn't good enough to go bowling. The ULM loss set the stage for this happening. Hopson is clueless. Nice guy, but clueless. Best of luck to the CUSA teams going bowling.

You wuz right 'backer.

I'll take the MAC champ vs. our CUSA champ every time over any other MAC or SBC school.

Truth be told, our conference should be doing some innovative things perennially with the MAC as a matter of competing with the AAC and MWC for the big payday. But that's another topic for another thread.

So you believe some sort of alliance with the MAC is innovative and would compete with the MWC/AAC for $$$ ??

You're welcome to laugh.

But before you hurt yourself, someone proposed something that strongly resembles the new CUSA basketball scheduling format a few years ago, and of the two of us, I'm guessing it wasn't you.

Again, though... another topic for another thread. Not here.

WKU was left out in 2013 with 8 wins, so we feel your pain Southern Miss......

CUSA teams have a very tough bowl schedule this year, 2-4 might the realistic goal here, not easy bowl matchups for anyone really.....

Jealous of MTSU going to New Orleans, that is the one bowl game I hope WKU gets to play one of these years, I bet WKU fans would really be thrilled with that bowl and we would bring a good amount of fans....Maybe one of these years we get to New Orleans before I get too old for New Orelans...03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao

I do know the CUSA conference champ got the doors blown off it by Coastal Carolina, who went 2-6 in the Sunbelt.

I’m also really content with our geography and don’t think the Sunbelt needs to re-organize at all. NC, SC, GA, AL, AR, LA & TX is pretty much the definition of the “Sunbelt”

If playing in Monroe and San Marcos in particular puts some lead in your pencil more power to you, but then you also still have the freshness of the FBS move to be excited about.

Personally I'd like a conference that stretches no more than a 1,000 miles between any two extremes and thusly a pair of divisions with roughly 500 mile radiuses.

Boone to San Marcos is 1000 miles. Almost exactly.

Yep.

Doesn't negate what I said as you guys are essentially division mates with being only a ten team conference.

As I said, 500 mile division radiuses.

Man you’re making this too easy for me. We aren’t division mates. Texas State and App are the extremities of the Sunbelt, one is in the East and one the West. We share a conference, not a division.

Within the Sunbelt East, App’s farthest trip is to Troy, a whopping 390 miles. Which is the farthest distance between any two teams in the division. In the West, the farthest distance is 590 miles from South Alabama to San Marcos. So yes, it does negate what you said.

I can't decide what's more amusing in this thread. PiKapp's weird rants about how a 10 team conference is essentially equal to a single division, when that conference doesn't play a full round robin in football, or a double round robin in basketball, or your lack of knowledge of Sun Belt Geography

It's nearly 700 miles from Jonesboro to San Marcos. It's a truly miserable trip. Divisional travel is easy for App State, but on this side of the universe, we have three divisional games a farther distance away than your longest.

(Now, I'll throw in at this point that I completely understand that geographically, Arkansas and Texas make sense as states in the same division, but please understand that Texas is a rather large state, and we're 30 miles from the Missouri State line. (All of our nearby G5 teams play in CUSA, sans ULM/Memphis)

1. You're welcome

2. You guys legitimately got screwed though. You were pretty much stuck because of a weird combination of number of bowl eligible teams, the odd transition year in the SBC that year, and having only two bowl tie ins.

Southern Miss only won 6 games. If you are a G5 team, winning 6 games basically doesn't even count towards bowl eligibility anymore given the way the current landscape is headed. They were left as the 7th place team in their league, relying on upsets to get selected. They sort of got themselves into this mess. 2013 Western really fell victim to a bunch of things they couldn't control.

I really don't understand how it's difficult to follow, if you play 4 put of 5 teams in the opposite division, are you really in separate divisions?

I'd be rather unhappy if we had to travel to UTEP twice in a five year period.

They ought to just nix one OOC game and play a full round-robin.

I guess its safe to say that if you are 6-5 in C-USA, try and get another game that last week of the season and try and get that 7th win. Thats two straight years that a team with a 6-5 record has been left at home during bowl season.

Miami OH will because of the comeback story. ESPN has a contract with the MAC.

Wyoming will if it's a western bowl.

USM gets one because of fans if it's a southern bowl.

Tulane will get a bowl if Marshall wins, if VaTech wins, Tulane gets slighted.

Monroe could get slighted.

I'd say the chopping list is ULM, USM or Tulane. Tulane has the upper hand.

Why would Tulane get slighted? The AAC has 7 primary ties and 7 bowl eligible teams. If UCF goes to an access bowl, then one bowl opens (Cure vs. SBC).

Wasn't sure of conference tie-ins but with that being the case then it's even more likely that the "last 4" would be USM, Wyoming, ULM, and Miami OH assuming VT wins saturday. Should Marshall win then it will probably come down to location with ULM being the first one out IMO.

I hate it when I'm right in cases like this (and the highlighted post right above this was mine from last Monday 11/26/18) 03-banghead01-lauramac2

So, out of 6 Bowl teams, CUSA is not playing a single bowl game in Texas.

You can't make this stuff up.

And no one in the east, or likely UAB or USM for that matter, cares..
