RE: UAB @ MT 11/24 2pm ESPN3
Plus Thanksgiving weekend is always the worst attended game of the year. Population growth can be a good thing to help attendance but a transient population doesn’t truly buy in as they have their own allegiances and people travel this week.

But like OleBlue said. It really has more to do with Groundhog Day dichotomy. Yesterday was the first time in a long long time where we had something really important to play for and didn’t look like UAB looked like. The problem for Coach Rick is too little too late.

Can't judge a program on Thanksgiving weekend attendance. Now CUSA Championship Game- THAT will be a game to judge MT's attendance on with no acceptable excuses.
Looking forward to watching the two best football teams in CUSA next weekend!

It's sad. I lived in Murfreesboro from 2003-2010, our attendance was never great, but it was far better than this

When have we ever packed the stadium on Thanksgiving weekend? Maybe Troy in 06? After that, when? I agree about the attendance but look at the FIU game yesterday vs. Marshall. Even my wife asked me if they were practicing since it didn't even look like a real game was being played in an empty stadium. They had everything to play for. Crickets.

It sounds like excuses but Vandy was at home vs. UT and both were playing for a bowl game. That is what Nashville cared about yesterday. The fact that we had as many there as we did yesterday is what surprised me. i was sitting on the 50 in 2HH and there actually a good amount around us. More than any other Thanksgiving game that I can remember in a long time.

Attendance is down everywhere. Even UGA had some empty sections vs. their rival with them being 10-1 ready to face BAMA. I think we will have better attendance this week since there is no more VANDY or UT playing exactly when we play.

I think we will have more media interest during the week and Massaro can go to the Mayor, councilmen, local schools and businesses with solid evidence on why the city needs to be there.

We'll see.

I'm not disagreeing with your premise here especially about late November home games, but a decade ago we had 28k on a Tuesday night for a conference game and now we have our capacity capped beneath that with tarps.

This fanbase needs a charge and sadly, simply hosting a conference championship game probably isn't enough. We need to win this game, win our bowl game and then follow that up with another minimum 9 win season next year and then maybe we can get attendance ticking back upward, but even if we do win this game and our bowl game if we regress to 7 wins next year, I don't think this season does much for our fanbase apart from slighly mollifying the fire Stock crowd.

Doesn't matter what your attendance was 10 years ago, if TN/Vandy are playing, how many injuries you're playing with, or if Bass Pro Shop is extending the Black Friday sale to next weekend. All eyes will be on the MT and UAB fanbases to pack the stadium for the CUSA Football Championship game. With 14 teams in this conference you may not get another championship shot for a while.

Whatever. How good has the attendance been in the last 5 conference title games. Hell wkcc had one of the most impressive non power teams in all of college football two years in a row and you could have picked any seat you wanted in Bowling Green. No one has had good attendance in this league for the CCG - at least not since we joined this league. So, why would you or anyone expect it to be different this week? Especially for a program that has seen declining attendance year over year for the 6 or 7 years.

If your fans can't/won't get excited about hosting the C-USA Football Championship game, then the "9 wins minimum per year", etc. is moot anyway.

As I said in an earlier post Yesterday, the only important game to most Nashville area football fans was UT vs. Vandy. They had 35,000 + at Dudley Field and I'm sure 5 to 10,000 of them have MT alums in their families or are MT grads, who grew up with a passion for Rocky Top U or the Dores. MT was an afterthought for decades. Next Saturday, MT vs. UAB will be the only college game in the region and all our non-commuter students will be back on campus. NO EXCUSES on December 1. Hope to see you there. I was there yesterday and I'll be back for the Championship Game as well.

Sorry but everybody in this conference with the exceptions of ODU and Marshall are having empty seat syndrome. It's the way of the digital way and the focus/saturation of the P5 market. It's just how it is now. You can watch 50+ games on TV/digital and not have to leave your house. It's tough to fight. If it rains on Saturday, we'll have no one there.

I agree no one will be there for MTSU either but still you cannot say La. tech would have any fans at championship game....You guys have had some really good basketball and football teams and draw flies..CUSA title game in BG a few seasons ago you did not have 200 fans at game......At least Southern Miss filled up a section.....Especially basketball, we played you one season when you guys were loaded and did not look like you had 2k in stands...

You're honestly trying to compare a 9.5 hour drive (Ruston to Bowling Green) to a 3 hour drive (Birmingham to Murfreesboro)? lol Please
